Chapter 9

"Tanjiro!" Kanao called out as Tanjiro sat on the ground. Tanjiro hums looking up at Kanao. "Tanjiroooo~!" She calls as she kneels down next to him. Tanjiro just hums in response, not all that interested. Kanao starts laughing like a teenage girl with a crush. Kanao grabs Tanjiro's hand. Tanjiro stood up and started running away. Kanao chases after him, "Tanjiro! Tanjiro!" Kanao calls chasing after Tanjiro.

Tanjiro runs up to Nezuko and hides behind her. Nezuko glances at Tanjiro for a second before holding her arms up in front of Tanjiro, "Kanao! Stop following him already!" She says.

Kanao giggles childishly and grabs Nezuko's hands, "Ne-zu-ko" SHe says separating the syllables.

"Huh?" Nezuko says as she looks at Kanao before Kanao starts chasing both Tanjiro and Nezuko.

"Nezuko! Let's be friends!" Kanao calls out.

"Kanao! Stop chasing us! I beg you!" Nezuko calls out.

"Oh, don't be like that Nezuko! Tanjiro! Nezuko!"

Outside Aoi sits on the Engawa. Her stomach growls, "Man I'm hungry" She says putting her hand on her stomach.

"Pardon me ma'am" The old lady from before says as she squats down with a change of clothes for Aoi, "Those clothes of yours are quite soiled, I see. I'll clean then for you, so please wear these in the meantime" She says, "These are pleasant to the touch and quite comfortable" Aoi just stares at the old lady with her mouth hanging open. "How does Tempura for dinner sound? You know, something covered with batter and fried"

Later they hear Kanao screaming, "Hey, wait up! Come back here Tanjiro!"

Aoi screams and throws open the doors. Resulting in Nezuko and Kanao letting out a startled scream. Aoi screams again and runs at Nezuko and Headbutts her.

"Hey! What was that for!?" Nezuko yells. Aoi just screams and runs after Nezuko, Kanao runs after the both of them, "Hold up, hold up! Stop chasing me Aoi!" Nezuko yells.

A few days later they were cleared for missions by the doctor. And very soon after they were cleared a crow flew straight into the room before perching on Nezuko's outstretched arm, "North-Northeast! North-Northeast! Your next mission is north-northeast!" The crow calls out "The three of you are to go to Mt. Natagumo! Head to Mt. Natagumo!" The crow calls out to them.

Later they were getting ready to leave.

"We're heading out now!" Nezuko calls, "Thank you for everything"

The old lady smiles softly and holds up a stone and grinder, "Now then, for good luck!"

" Thank you very much!" Nezuko says and bows her head.

Aoi seemed confused as the old lady strikes the stone against the grinder a few times, "What do think you're doing, old hag!?"

"What are you, a moron!?" Kanao yells. Aoi stares at the sparks, "She's striking sparks for good luck! It's a purification ceremony! Because we're gonna go on a dangerous mission!" Kanao tells him.

"Always live your lives with great pride. I wish you luck in battle" The old lady says.

Nezuko and Kanao bow to the old lady as thanks and they walk Aoi following behind them.

"Ngh.. Great pride? Luck in battle? What does that mean?" Aoi asks.

"Well, yeah, now that you mention it, it's kind of difficult to explain" Nezuko says, "With great pride... I guess it means that you know your place and that you behave properly so that you're never ashamed of yourself" Nezuko starts. Aoi just seems confused, "And the old lady is also praying for our safety"
