M The Red LeaderI escaped my home before the sun rose. I didn't need anyone to follow me again. After becoming a leader I have been swarmed by Steve for guidance and hope after the First Curse's damage. I haven't even had the time to take in my role... After the Red Leader's disappearance. It's been nothing but chaos. Professor Red has refused to tell me where he went.
I made my way into a small clearing of the forest. He air cold and crisp from the night. Stars slowly faded away as the sun began to rise out of my sight. I silently teleported to an area I have been to a few times.
The Rainbow Kingdom.
It's fallen. The main citadel crumbled on the ground. Plants and vines grew across what remained. It was only a matter of time before trees would grow through the rubble. As the cold air picked up around me I had to keep a hand on the red crown on my head. One passed down for generations. Now I wear it as a sign of my leadership. I shivered against the cold. Without much thought I found myself climbing the ruins. Rubble and rocks moved with each place I put my foot. I struggled to make myself get to the top. I sat down on a pile of cold moss growing on the top. My robes caught the wind. Already the stars have disappeared. The sky changed from its usual blue and indigo color with hints of purple and violet to a light blue.
I closed my eyes holding back tears. I didn't know what to do now. This role of leadership, I have been trained under it longer than any red apprentice before me. Times when he should have stepped down to retire and spend the rest of his days at rest he instead stayed. He wanted me to be ready. He wanted to tell me that I was ready.
I still don't feel ready for this.
It's so simple, all of it is. What needs to be done to keep our traditions and safety, but now? I have a choice to make. One I never got the answer to.
Do I let us come out of hiding
We have been in hiding for so long that we have all forgotten there are more colors than red. We believe we are the only ones left. I was only told of this truth to keep it hidden when it was my time to rise into power.
I just-
Tears went down my face. I pressed my hand gently on my face to keep them from staining my clothes. I didn't know. The others are so kind and nice and want us to be back. They want us to join together, but I have seen this kingdom I stand on fall apart. Will war come after we join or will peacefully prevail?
Red Leader would know what to do... I was always too scared to ask him. I felt sobs break in my voice over the silence.
"I... I wasn't ready... why did... why did you have to leave?..." I sobbed out my voice breaking. I don't know what to do. I can't do this without him. He and Sabre... both my dear friends have disappeared. I have no one to guide me.
A bright light shines in my closed eyes. I squinted and opened them slowly. The sun. It was rising above the. Hills and trees now. The sky draped in orange and yellow light. The sun looked like a dark red, but it slowly grew brighter as it rose. My tears didn't stop as I watched it rise. The color red stood out for a while before it escaped into a yellow and orange. The green of the leaves reflects the light. Far behind me, the sky remained the cool colors I noted earlier.
The sky looked like a rainbow.
I laid back into the rubble feeling the light against my skin and face. White clouds connected the colors of the sky and earth. As the day begins I am reminded... that all the colors are connected. Without the red Sun, there would be no light, but without the yellow and Orange, the leaves would not turn green. The sky wouldn't look so blue without a green glow. The sky wouldn't be filled with stars without the dark indigo and Violet night sky.
We are all connected and play a role with each other. The colors all shine best when together. Each color plays a role in the rising Sun. The start of each day is behind with all the colors of the rainbow.
Without one color the rest cannot exist.
I climbed down the rubble to make my way back to the Red Kingdom. The ruins of the old Rainbow Kingdom may be lost here forever, and yet. I believe in it otherwise. Maybe if the Red Steves join the balance of colors.
The Rainbow Kingdom will rise once again.
I stepped back near the forest clearing to silently teleport into the kingdom. Red Steves were already awake. Without hesitation, I called for an early meeting to greet everyone on a new day. To an announcement that will shake everyone to a new level of success for our people and the others. What am-
"Everyone, good morning! I have something we need to speak of. I have come back from a morning walk and have realized something. There is something me and the old Red Leader have kept a secret from all of you. I believe that it's time for all of you to know the truth." Quiet gasps filled the crowd.
"Today. We are no longer the only Steves around. There can be no rainbow without red, but there is no rainbow without every color. We are not the only steves around. There are many other colored steves that I have met, and now. It's time for all of you to meet them with me."
