The next morning, Isolde woke up, wondering how she ended up in her bed. She vaguely remembered getting up to do something, but her memories were hazy. "What happened?" she muttered to herself.
Glancing at the clock, she realized it was almost time for school. She quickly jumped up, got ready, and put on her new uniform. "This uniform is way different from my old school," she thought, examining the strange design.
Confused but excited, she looked at her schedule and saw that her first period was "Natural Strength." She laughed, thinking, "Natural Strength? What's that about? But it sounds fun!"
As she walked to her class, she bumped into Christopher in the hallway. "Hello, good morning," he said, flashing a charming smile. "How did you sleep?" Isolde replied, "I slept well, thanks."
Christopher's thoughts drifted off for a moment, and he thought, "Wow, she's very interesting... in a good way. I want to get to know her better." But then he snapped back to reality, remembering Regina, and his expression changed. "I have to go, nice meeting you, Isolde. See you later," he said, walking off quickly. Isolde bid him farewell, wondering about their brief encounter. Isolde finally made it to her class, her heart racing with excitement. As she looked around, she couldn't help but notice how beautiful everyone was. It was an all-girl class, but what struck her as odd was the stark contrast between the two sides of the room. One side was bright and lively, while the other was dark and quiet. Isolde's eyes landed on Regina, sitting on the darker side, and she felt a sudden jolt of recognition. "Regina, hey, it's me, Isolde!" she exclaimed, her voice carrying across the room.
The class turned to look, and one girl sneered, "You know that human? She looks hideous." Regina's expression turned sad, and she replied, " I don't know who that thing is ." The teacher, Mrs. Patterson, intervened, welcoming Isolde and asking her to introduce herself.
"Hi, my name is Isolde Nakamura. I'm 16 years old, and I'm from a small town in Kawagoe. I live with my mom and dad, and I love reading books," Isolde said, trying to sound confident.
"What kind of books do you like, Isolde?" Mrs. Patterson asked, smiling.
"I love reading about vampires and fairies. I find them so fascinating. And, I have to admit, I've always wanted to be a vampire," Isolde said, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
The class erupted into whispers and giggles, and Regina reacted strongly, warning Mrs. Patterson not to seat Isolde near her. "Please don't put this human next to me, or else," she said, her voice laced with menace.
"Regina, dear, I understand your concerns, but Isolde will be sitting on the other side of the room," Mrs. Patterson reassured her.
One girl, with piercing blue eyes, spoke up, "Why would you want to be a vampire, Isolde? Don't you know they're, like, so last season?"
"Hey, vampires are cool!" Isolde defended her preference.
Regina sneered, "Because we're better than you all, that's why."
Elizabeth, the girl who had spoken up earlier, stood up to Regina, "That's not true, Regina. Vampires may have powers, but they're not invincible. They can't even walk in the sun without burning to ashes."
Regina continued to taunt her, calling her "pathetic," but Elizabeth remained calm and confident. "I'd rather be a fairy, any day. At least we have the power of nature on our side."
As the tension escalated, Mrs. Patterson tried to intervene, but Regina's insults continued until Elizabeth finally stood up, packed her bags, and turned to Isolde. "We should talk sometime, Isolde.
"Thanks, Elizabeth. I'd like that," Isolde replied, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her new acquaintance.
As Elizabeth left the class, Isolde felt a sense of excitement and nervousness, wondering what the future held for her and her new friend. She glanced over at Regina, who was still glaring at her, and shivered. She knew she had to be careful, but she was determined to make friends and navigate this new and complex
