The sharp pain in my ankle was the first thing I registered as I regained consciousness. I tried to move, but the slightest twitch sent a jolt of agony through my leg. Gritting my teeth, I forced my eyes open, the bright hospital lights making me wince.

My mind was muddled, but the events of earlier that day came flooding back in a blur of panic and fear. I had been at the dance studio, going through my routine, when Veronica and Chloe, Olivia's so-called "friends," had approached me.

"Samantha, Olivia has a message for you," Veronica had said, a sinister smile playing on her lips.

I had been wary, knowing full well the kind of harm Olivia and her cronies were capable of. "What is it?" I had asked, my voice trembling slightly.

Chloe had then stepped forward, her eyes narrow. "She says to stay away from Colin. He's hers, and you need to back off."

Before I could even respond, they had shoved me, hard. I had stumbled, trying to regain my balance, but Veronica had swiftly kicked my ankle, causing me to crumple to the floor. The sickening crack and the blinding pain had made me cry out.

I squeezed my eyes shut, willing the memory to fade. As I lay there, struggling to breathe, my bracelet suddenly beeped, the familiar sound making my heart race. Aspen. She must have felt the distress signal and come looking for me.
