As my family and I made our way to the girls' dormitories at Ember University, I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness. The events of the past few days had left me physically and emotionally drained, but the thought of seeing my friends again filled me with a renewed sense of hope.

Leighton walked beside me, his expression concerned yet determined. "Samantha, we might want to hurry and get your stuff, take a shower, and change," he said, a slight chuckle in his voice. "Colin can't stop texting me, and he's even worse than Elijah, who also won't stop asking about you, Aspen."

Aspen's eyes widened, and a slight blush crept across her cheeks. "Elijah's been asking about me?" she asked, trying in vain to hide her growing smile.

I couldn't help but laugh at the unfolding scene. "It seems your admirer are quite persistent, Aspen," I teased, nudging her playfully.

Our father, Samuel, cleared his throat, his brow furrowed in a mix of amusement and curiosity. "Elijah, you say. Isn't that the son of Alistair Matisse, the renowned businessman in the art world?"

Leighton nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "The one and only. Apparently, he's quite taken with dear Aspen here."

Aspen shot Leighton a playful glare, but I could see the excitement dancing in her eyes. "It's not like that," she protested, though the slight tremor in her voice betrayed her true feelings.
