One day after the events of the previous chapter, Topkapi Palace, 1521.

The celebration of Mahidevran's pregnancy had passed smoothly. As the Valide had requested, sweets, juice and lots of gold were distributed among the harem girls. The Valide was so happy and in her best mood after learning the news about Mahidevran's pregnancy, that she distributed herself a good amount of gold among the harem in the company of her oldest granddaughter, Mahpeyker, and Daye. After learning about her pregnancy, Suleiman gave Mahidevran a very beautiful and elegant diamond necklace and she proudly wore it to the celebration. Despite the festive atmosphere, the detail of Mahidevran's wearing a new necklace did not go unnoticed by other concubines, especially Hürrem. The redhead did not hide her annoyance and displeasure at the news of Mahidevran's pregnancy, but she did not dare to say anything to her in front of the Valide. Apparently, Gülsah had told her everything she could find out about the brunette's pregnancy.

"That shameless snake... damn you Mahidevran... I hope that Serbian witch dies during childbirth..." Hürrem whispered venomously, as she looked with envy at the diamond necklace worn by the younger concubine, which she obviously thought that it was a gift from Suleiman.

After Mahidevran noticed Hürrem's mixed expression of both anger and envy in her face, she couldn't help but smile sarcastically in response to her immature and childish attitude. On the other hand, the redhead was also furious with herself because she knew that she had to attack Mahidevran right after she spent the night with Suleiman. It was too late and now Mahidevran was pregnant, she could not do anything to her without thinking about the consequences she might face first if she dared to do it, unless she sent one of her maids secretly to attack her.

Maria had also noticed the redhead's reaction and looked at Mahidevran back. Mahidevran seemed unbothered by Hürrem's attitude, and she even seemed to be amused by seeing Hürrem's seething out of jealousy in silence.

"Don't do anything Maria, we just need to let her keep getting angry with herself. This baby is just the beginning. Soon she will spend every day annoyed, depressed or angry about something, especially when my prince is born. She needs to get used to it". Mahidevran whispered sarcastically to Maria, who simply watched as Hürrem kept talking quietly to Gülsah. Her other maid, Gülnihal, seemed to be embarrassed with Hürrem's attitude.

The Valide was in excellent spirits, and she seemed to be unbothered too. It was evident that Ayse Hafsa was satisfied with the good news as it meant that her plan was going as she had planned. She was hoping that Mahidevran could give birth to a Sehzade soon to counter Hürrem's power and influence in the harem. She was talking animatedly with Firuze about some subject that Mahidevran did not manage to hear well but that she sensed had to do with Hurrem. At times, they both stared at the redhead, who simply ignored them. Not because she didn't want to tell one thing or two to Ayse Hafsa, Firuze or Mahidevran, she just wanted to keep a low profile and not draw Suleiman's attention in a negative light for her behaviour.

Once the celebration of her pregnancy was over, Mahidevran went to sleep in the new private quarters assigned to her. Unlike the chambers where she used to sleep when she was promoted to favourite, these chambers were much more spacious, elegant, and comfortable and were intended only for her. She no longer needed to share her chambers with anyone else. She was also assigned maids to her service and she did not doubt that she wanted Maria as one of them because she would not entrust the care of her children to anyone else and she had a blind trust in her childhood friend. Maria had also been given a new name and was now known as Fidan.

Tired of the social effort at the celebration, the brunette felt that sleep was taking over her body and decided to put on her silk pyjamas with her corresponding robe. As soon as she lay down in bed, she fell into a deep sleep almost instantly. It had been a very tiring day, but the girl was happy about her pregnancy and could not stop thinking about the future, imagining her baby in her arms. Suleiman had already told her and the Valide that if the baby turned out to be a boy, she wanted to name him Mustafa. Ayse Hafsa had explained to Mahidevran the meaning of the name Suleiman had chosen for her grandson. It meant "the chosen one" in Arabic and was also another of the names by which the prophet Muhammad was referred to.
