Six months since the birth of the twins, Topkapi Palace, 1522.

Mahidevran was in her chambers, trying to get Mustafa and Mihrisah to fall asleep after she had fed them. The children were sleeping peacefully in their cribs when she smelled something burning and wondered where it came from. Minutes later, Fidan opened the door. She was very agitated but wanted to alert her friend of a fire that broke out in the palace.

"Quick, Mahidevran, we must escape, there is a fire!" Fidan urgently alerted her. "Give me the little girl, and you take the prince!"

Mahidevran didn't need to be told twice what she had to do. She took her youngest son and ensured that Fidan did the same with Mihrisah before they fled the fire together. Smoke filled the room, and fire threatened to burn down the rooms Mahidevran shared with her twins. The woman was desperate and hysterical, fearing for the health and safety of her babies and her friend.

Luckily, after managing to open the door, Fidan discovered a safe passageway leading to the main entrance. A few minutes later, they found out that Hürrem was also attempting to escape with three of her children and Gülnihal. Little Hüma was safe with her aunt, Hatice Sultan, and her cousins in another wing of the palace, away from the fire.

"Come on, what are you waiting for? Move!" Mahidevran shouted at Hürrem when she noticed that the Ruthenian was paralyzed with fear by the fire, urging her to wake up.

Hürrem didn't even have time to answer Mahidevran; she just nodded and ran away, making sure Selim and Mehmed were in good condition and safe. Gülnihal was behind the redhead, carrying Mihrimah in his arms. A few minutes later, Mahidevran and Fidan managed to escape unharmed with the twins. Finally, one of Firuze's maids, Cennet Hatun, arrived with her daughters, and they managed to escape unharmed. This seemed to bring relief to the woman, who had been struggling and screaming with Sumbul Agha to let her pass almost ten minutes ago.

"Blessed be Allah, my daughters are safe," Firuze exclaimed as she ran to embrace her frightened daughters who were crying in her arms.

After being alerted to the fire at the Palace, Suleiman rushed to ensure the safety of his children. He quickly passed by and went directly to Mahidevran and her babies to confirm they were okay. Hürrem saw the whole scene and her mind started to be filled with thoughts of rage due to jealousy.

"Mahidevran," Suleiman called out to her with concern as he took Mustafa in his arms to make sure the child was okay despite the circumstances. Hürrem couldn't believe that Suleiman had passed by without looking at her or asking her how her children were doing first. "How are the children? Are you okay?"

"Hunkarim, I thank you very much for your concern, but fortunately the twins and I managed to escape unharmed thanks to Fidan," Mahidevran answered sincerely, not ignoring her friend's help as she tried to calm her daughter's cries.

"Mahidevran, please go to a safe place and go to see a doctor to make sure the twins are okay," Suleiman asked him emphatically before handing him Mustafa and turning to Firuze. Mahidevran nodded and without wasting any more time, she left with her children and Fidan for other rooms that were safer.

"I wish she and her children had perished in the fire," Hürrem whispered, consumed by jealousy. Thankfully, Suleiman did not hear her, or so she thought.

"Don't say those things, Hürrem. Do you want to be executed for saying that?" Gülnihal quietly admonished her, trying to bring Hürrem to her senses.

"Is everything okay, Firuze?" Suleiman asked, worried about her and her daughters.

"We're all fine. The girls are still very frightened by the fire," Firuze replied more calmly. Her eldest daughter interrupted her when she saw her father.
