Seonghwa
"Seonghwa, my son?" his Mother's gentle voice called him from outside his bedroom door.
Seonghwa had been back to the palace about an hour ago after successfully sneaking himself back in through his window.
He got up from his bed and slowly pulled the door open, his Mother standing outside of it in her silky emerald night gown. "My dear son." she sweetly says with a smile.
"Yes Mother?" he smiled back.
"I want to show you something." she turned sideways and started to walk through the corridors. Seonghwa helplessly followed her, closing the bedroom door behind him.
He quickly catched up so that they were walking right beside each other.
"I have hidden a few things from you since you were a child. Now that you're old enough, I want to tell you the truth."
"The truth?" Seonghwa repeated in a small voice as they stopped infront of a door. A door that Seonghwa recognized.
It was the special room.
Seonghwa has never seen the inside of the special room. It was a room owned by his late Father, she never told him about his own Father nor what he looked like. The only thing he knew is that he died in a war when Seonghwa was still young. He had no idea why but there must be a specific reason why his Mother hid him from him.
And he was somehow afraid of the truth.
She opened the door with both hands, fully opening it so they could walk in together.
It was very dim inside, the only lights were the candles. Although it was dark, Seonghwa was speechless. Countless of portraits of different faces were hung up. Swords, knifes, guns, shields, jewelry, everything you could think of. This room was packed with many things.
"Father owned everything in here?" Seonghwa asked, staring at the chandelier above that stopped working completely.
Cobwebs in every corner of the room shows how this room was forgotten, left behind without anyone looking after it.
"Yes, everything was his. Ours. And yours." she lit up a candle and walked around the portraits with it.
Everything was so fascinating. How could his Mother hide this from him? Hide his own Father from him?
"My son, I want to tell you a short story."
Seonghwa glanced at her, she was standing in the middle of the room.
"Not long ago, lived a very powerful Pirate. He owned many islands and treasures you could think of, the world looked up to him as one of the greatest man alive. This specific pirate found the Rixa Rubin and wanted to assure it some where it can be protected. So he sailed for years until he found a new place to hide it. When he arrived, he met a very naive princess who helped her secure the ruby and fell inlove with her until he married her. Eventually they welcomed a baby and this proud pirate called all of his friends for a large feast to celebrate. Unfortunately, one of his friends betrayed him and stole the Rixa Rubin. The pirate was furious and fought with his friend on the ship that later on exploded. His child and wife were devasted that the great witch had set a curse between us and the pirates."
