Katrina: Hello everybody, and welcome to a special episode of “The Gray Side” I'm your hostess Grey, and with me today are a tribute band originating from my home state Texas. So please give a warm welcome to Nebula454! Say hi guys!

All 4 guys: Hello!

Jeff: I'm Jeff McCartney, I'm the bass player and co-founder.

Katrina: Is McCartney really your last name?

Jeff: To my knowledge, yes. My grandpa says that he changed his last name to that many years ago, but he won't tell me what our original last name was.

Katrina: That sucks. Next up is-

Anthony: Hello, my name is Anthony Nesmith. I'm the keyboardist, rhythm guitar, lead guitar kinda, and co-founder of Nebula454.

Katrina: So Anthony, is it true you're related to Monkees member Michael Nesmith?

Anthony: Yeah I am, he's my uncle. I guess you can say music runs in the family.

Katrina: Fascinating, next we have-

Murray: Hey everybody how ya going? I'm Murray Young! Some people call me Ace. I'm the lead or rhythm guitarist of Nebula454.

Katrina: Why do they call you Ace?

Murray: Apparently I remind them too much of Ace Frehley. Face, mannerisms and all.

Katrina: I've never seen Ace Frehley without makeup or a beard so I don't know what to say. Lastly we have-

Randal: Hi! I'm Randal Cracker! I'm the drummer! Or when Jeff doesn't feel like it, I'm the bass player.

Katrina: Randal, are you related to Jeff?

Randal: Well, I don't think I am, why?

Katrina: Because at a few shows, and a couple of songs, you both sound similar when singing.

Jeff: You know, Murray and Anthony tell us that all the time. However, I don't think we are related.

Katrina: Alright, let's get down to business shall we? Ok guys, my listeners want to know some stuff. Like why be a tribute band? What's the story of the band's formation? What's being popular like? All that juicy info.

Murray: If you wanna know how the band was created, that's where Jeff and Anthony come in. Randal and I didn't join until a few months later.

Jeff: Well, it all started when I was younger. I always wanted to make music, or be in a band. However, time went on and I found out that songs about anything or everything have been written, so I figured why not make a tribute band? Pay tribute to the songs that got all this chaos started. Eventually it came to fruition when I met up with original members Max and my cousin Todd who introduced me to Anthony. We came together along with my brother John to make the greatest tribute band in the world.

Anthony: And we did make the greatest tribute band, because no one does what we do. We choose random songs and play them. At our concerts sometimes, we'll open it up to the audience to see what our next song will be. Anyway, after a few gigs, we got asked to do a worldwide battle of the bands thing. We won it, but afterwards, John, Todd, and Max had other stuff they wanted to do so they left to pursue their own things. Max was brought back to produce our 2 albums. But when it came down to replacing the other original 3 members, it was complicated. Call it luck or call it fate, because immediately after that, Jeff introduced me to Murray and Randal, they asked if we were a band and we told them that we were looking for new members. And so we gave them a try, and it just worked. So the rest is history.
