The night had been everything Bible had ever wanted. They had poured their love into each other, their bodies entwined, leaving them breathless, sweat mingling with the remnants of their passion. As they lay together, Bible’s fingers traced along Jeff’s skin, his heart overflowing with love and contentment. He couldn’t imagine life without this—without Jeff.

But Jeff’s thoughts were heavy, burdened by a decision that tore at his very soul. He had kept his secret hidden, not wanting to break Bible’s heart. But now, after their final night together, he knew it was time. He had to let Bible go.

After a long silence, Jeff finally spoke, his voice barely more than a whisper. "we need to break up."

Bible’s world tilted as the words sunk in. He pushed himself up on his elbow, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Are you crazy?" he stammered. "This is some kind of joke, right? You can’t be serious."

Jeff’s eyes were pained, but he forced himself to hold Bible’s gaze. "I’m serious, Bib. We need to end this."

"No, you don’t mean that." Bible’s voice shook as he searched Jeff’s face for a sign that this wasn’t real. "Did you find someone else? Or... was it me? Did I do something wrong? I’ll fix it, Jeff. I’ll do whatever it takes."

Jeff’s heart ached at the desperation in Bible’s voice. He reached out to cup Bible’s face, his thumb brushing away a tear. "You didn’t do anything wrong. You’ve been perfect, Bib. But this... this is something I have to do."

Bible shook his head, tears welling in his eyes. "I don’t understand, Jeff. Why are you doing this?"

Jeff hesitated, the weight of his secret nearly crushing him. But he knew he couldn’t tell Bible—not now. "Because I care about you too much," Jeff whispered, his voice cracking. "You’ll be better off without me."

"But I love you," Bible said, his voice barely audible, his heart breaking into pieces.

Jeff’s resolve wavered for a moment, but he forced himself to stand firm. He couldn’t let Bible see the pain in his eyes, couldn’t let him know how much this was tearing him apart. "I’m sorry, Bib," he said softly, his voice trembling. "But it’s over."

As Jeff reached the door, Bible’s voice stopped him. "I love you, Jeff. Please, don’t go."

Jeff’s heart shattered, but he didn’t turn back. He knew that if he did, he wouldn’t be able to leave. And if he stayed, it would only make the inevitable that much harder. As he stepped outside, he felt something warm and wet on his upper lip. Wiping it away, he realized it was blood. Panic surged through him, but he forced himself to keep walking, disappearing into the night.

Days passed in a haze for Bible. The break-up had left him numb, a hollow shell of the person he once was. He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t think of anything but Jeff. But the pain became unbearable when he received the call—Jeff had collapsed and was in the hospital.

When Bible arrived, he was shocked by the sight of Jeff, pale and frail, lying in the hospital bed. His heart twisted in his chest as he rushed to his side, taking Jeff’s hand in his.

"Jeff..." Bible whispered, his voice shaking. He sat beside him, holding his hand tightly, as if that could somehow keep him tethered to this world.

Jeff opened his eyes, smiling weakly at the sight of Bible. "You weren’t supposed to see me like this," Jeff murmured, his voice faint.

"Why didn’t you tell me?" Bible’s voice cracked with emotion, tears filling his eyes. "I could have been here for you, helped you. Why did you push me away?"

Jeff’s gaze softened, his heart breaking as he saw the pain in Bible’s eyes. "I didn’t want to hurt you, Bib. I wanted you to remember me the way I was, not like this."

Bible shook his head, tears spilling down his cheeks. "You were everything to me, Jeff. Don’t you understand? I would have done anything for you."

Jeff’s smile was bittersweet as he reached out to brush a tear from Bible’s face. "I know, Bib. But you’ll be okay. You’ll find happiness again, I promise."

The hours passed, and Jeff’s condition worsened. His breathing became labored, his strength fading. Bible stayed by his side, holding his hand, whispering words of love, trying to keep him grounded, even as the inevitable loomed closer.

Jeff’s breathing grew shallow, and Bible could feel the life slipping away from him. He tightened his grip on Jeff’s hand, his heart breaking with each passing second.

"Bib..." Jeff whispered, his voice barely more than a breath. "Promise me... that we’ll meet again... in another life."

Bible’s tears fell freely as he nodded, his voice choked with emotion. "I promise, Jeff. I’ll be there."

Jeff’s eyes softened, a small smile playing on his lips. "Thank you..." he whispered, his voice fading as he slipped away, the light in his eyes dimming until it was gone.

Bible sat there in the silence, holding onto Jeff’s hand long after he was gone, unable to let go. The world felt empty, cold, as if all the color had drained away with Jeff’s passing.

But even as the days turned into weeks, Bible clung to that promise—that in another life, they would find each other again.

The city was alive with the hum of everyday life as Jeff hurried down a crowded street, papers clutched in one hand, a phone in the other. He was distracted, trying to juggle too many things at once. As he walked, a few pages slipped from his grasp, fluttering to the ground.

Suddenly, he collided with someone, sending the remaining papers flying. "I’m so sorry!" Jeff exclaimed, quickly bending down to gather the scattered documents.

The man he had bumped into crouched down beside him, helping him collect the papers. Their hands brushed as they both reached for the same page, and Jeff froze, a strange sense of familiarity washing over him as their eyes met.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still. The noise of the city faded into the background as they stared at each other, an unspoken connection sparking between them. Jeff felt his heart skip a beat, a feeling of déjà vu overwhelming him.

The man smiled warmly, handing Jeff the papers. "Here you go," he said, his voice kind and familiar.

"Thanks," Jeff replied, his voice a little shaky. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the man’s face, the feeling of familiarity growing stronger with each passing second.

As they both stood up, Jeff found himself unable to shake the feeling that he knew this man from somewhere. There was something about him, something that felt... important.

Before the man could walk away, Jeff took a deep breath and called out, "Wait... what’s your name?"

The man turned back, a curious smile on his lips. "It’s Bible," he said, his eyes meeting Jeff’s once more.

Jeff felt a strange warmth in his chest, his heart beating faster. "Bible..." he repeated softly, the name feeling right on his tongue, like it belonged there.

Bible nodded, still smiling, before turning to walk away. Jeff watched him go, a small, hopeful smile playing on his lips as he held the papers tightly in his hands.

As he walked away, Jeff couldn’t resist looking back one more time. When he did, he found Bible glancing back as well, their eyes meeting once more. Jeff’s cheeks flushed with warmth, a soft blush spreading across his face as he turned back around, a feeling of hope blossoming in his chest.

Somehow, Jeff knew—deep down in his heart—that this was the beginning of something new. Something that felt a lot like destiny.
