Bible couldn't stop glancing at Jeff across the café. Jeff was sitting with his two friends, laughing silently, his head thrown back slightly as his dimples deepened. He was captivating, especially the way his smile lit up his whole face. But what really caught Bible’s attention was when Jeff's head gently fell onto another man’s shoulder, caught in the moment of a joke.

There was something innocent and magnetic about him. Their eyes met briefly, and in that fleeting second, Bible winked playfully, his lips curving into a flirtatious smile.

Jeff's face flushed instantly, and he quickly looked away, trying to ignore the sudden rush of heat that crept up his cheeks. He focused on his friends, pretending to listen to the conversation, but he couldn't shake the thought of that wink. Who was this man, and why was he so confident?

The weekend came around again, and by some twist of fate, Bible found himself back at the same café. This time, he spotted Jeff sitting alone at a table while his two friends went to grab their dishes. Jeff looked even more handsome today, his casual outfit somehow making him stand out even more.

Bible grinned to himself. He couldn’t let this chance pass.

Jeff, on the other hand, was well aware of the man’s gaze burning into him. He tried to act natural, keeping his eyes fixed on the table, but the tension in the air was impossible to ignore. He fiddled nervously with the straw in his drink, hoping that Bible would lose interest.

But that didn’t happen.

Instead, Bible walked over confidently, stopping right beside Jeff’s table. Jeff froze, unsure of what to do. Bible didn’t say a word—he simply took out a folded tissue, placed it on the table in front of Jeff, and gave him another wink before walking away.

Jeff blinked, his heart racing as he stared down at the tissue, bewildered by what had just happened. When his friends returned, they noticed Jeff’s confusion and asked what was wrong. Jeff shook his head, picking up the tissue hesitantly.

Inside was a phone number, scribbled neatly. Jeff felt a mix of surprise and intrigue. His mind raced—did this guy actually expect him to call? What would happen if he did? After all, Bible didn’t know the truth: that Jeff couldn’t speak.

Jeff’s fingers hovered over the phone as he debated what to do next. The man was attractive, charming even, but how would he react when he learned that Jeff couldn’t talk?

Despite the nerves, Jeff found himself smiling, dimples appearing once again. Maybe he would text after all.

Later that evening, he sat on his bed, staring at his phone. Should he text? His fingers hovered over the screen, contemplating. Finally, he typed:

Jeff: Hey, it’s Jeff. You left me your number.

He hit send before he could overthink it, and within seconds, his phone buzzed.

Bible: Well, well. You actually texted me. Didn’t think you would.

Jeff chuckled, feeling a bit of anticipation bubble inside him.

Jeff: Why not? You seemed pretty confident back there.

Bible: Confidence is part of my charm. What’d you think? Did I leave an impression?*
Jeff rolled his eyes but smiled at the phone, amused by Bible’s cockiness.

Jeff: Maybe a little. You’re persistent, though, I’ll give you that.

Bible: Only when I see something I like. What about you? You were so quiet. Hard to read.
Jeff’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of his silence, but he decided to keep things light.
