Seeing dragons as more than just vicious beasts roaring in the sky and trying to kill as much as they could was obvious to the Vikings now. After Hiccup bravely revealed to them what dragons really were, the Vikings were now finally at peace with them. Some still having their doubts if the beasts could be trusted, whilst others were practically best friends with them. Hiccup of course being the later.
It was a morning like most others. Hiccup peacefully curled up in his blanket, the fabric slowly moving up and down with his breathing, whilst Toothless lay on his sleeping stone, lightly purring to the sounds of Hiccup's soothing breathing, dreaming pleasantly about exploring another part of the archipelago with his rider and best friend Hiccup. Feeling the fresh breeze across his scales, moving his majestic wings in intuitive practice, noting the movements of his prosthetic tail-fin Hiccup controlled, listening to-
"Toothless! Toothless! Wake up! It's morning, time to go on our practice flights." Hiccup's harsh but at the same time soothing voice woke him up from his peaceful dream.
Toothless whined, ensuring Hiccup knew he'd just woken the Night Fury from a lovely slumber.
"I'm sorry bud," Hiccup's voice was full of real concern and forgiveness, "We're already late and we've got lots to do today."
Toothless' big green eyes watched his rider's face intently, noting the concern in his eyes, quickly understanding Hiccup's concern, and forgiving him in an instant. Hiccup just looked too cute when he was apologizing to him, making it impossible for the big dragon to stay mad at him, letting his rider know by cooing in approval.
"Great! We've got a lot of work to do, let me quickly set you up." Hiccup explained, hastily grabbing the tail-fin prosthetic from a nearby table and installing it on Toothless along with his saddle.
Sometimes Toothless wished he could just stay on his sleeping stone together with Hiccup and spend the day lazily doing nothing, and although he still hadn't given up on that lovely dream, he knew it wouldn't be today. But honestly, he didn't mind too much, as long as he had Hiccup along his side, Toothless was indeed the happiest dragon on Berk.
And so, another day of hard training sessions, lecturing the gang about new ways of defending against dragon trappers, and cleaning the stables began. Hiccup especially not looking forward to the last part, but someone had to do it, and this week, it was his turn. Something that he was excited about however, even though he'd never admit such a thing, was seeing Astrid ambitiously riding her Nadder through the sky like she'd owned it, presenting serious competition to him and Toothless.
And today was no different. Hiccup and Toothless flew into the arena, greeting the impatiently waiting gang.
"Where have you been?!" Snotlout retorted, looking very unamused by their late arrival.
"I'm sorry Snotlout. Did Hookfang get bored again and played with you like a toy?" Hiccup already knew why Snotlout was so annoyed, the scars on his tunic leaving nothing to the imagination.
Snotlout only gave him a grunt in reply, the look on his face demanding Hiccup to finally start with the training program.
