Paige had woken up late, pushing noon before she even got out of bed. Gale was gone when she got up, but she figured she was just in the restroom or had a check up or something.

She was now at the fence line, looking out into the woods. A blue jay had caught her eye, her attention now focused on it. She was mom. Returning to her nest to feed her babies as they cried for her.

Paige felt a smile begin to rise on her face as she watched the small family. But that smile soon dropped as an unfamiliar voice broke the peaceful moment. "Hey." Paige whipped around and was met with a man she didnt know.

He had shaggy black hair that curled and fell over his piercing green eyes. He was tall, though not as tall as Gale, probably around six feet. But he was still tall enough he had to look down at her. He had a clean shaven face, and his clothes were crisp and clean.

He wore a smile. Not a welcoming, kind smile. It was the type of smile you give your dinner before you eat it, like he was excited. Like he was hungry.

"Um..hi?" She said, awkwardly as she looked around, seeing no one within a hundred yards. "Paige, right?" Her vision snapped back to him, how did he know her name? She knew nothing of him. "Uh..ya..how do you-" "Yknow you really shouldn't stray this far from the house, it's dangerous." He cut her off with an odd tone, and his smile widened.

Paige didn't like that, she didn't like that one bit. She gave him a slow nod before beginning to walk away, not looking back as she began to jog back to the house. She felt eyes on her as she rushed off, but she didn't dare look back. She eventually made it to the porch, taking two steps at a time, calming herself before prying the door open and stepping inside.

The house was silent, seemingly empty as she walked through, arriving at the door that lead into Gales room. When Paige walked into the room her wife has been resting in, she obviously expected to be met with yknow..her wife resting in it.

But instead, was met with an empty bed, blood splattered on the covers, and the clothes Gale was wearing the night before thrown on the ground, covered in blood.

Daryl was distraught, he was out in the woods, leaning against a tree with his head in his hands. Gale..she..he couldn't believe it.

"Are you done?" "No you asshole, you scared it away with your big elephant feet."

The two were out looking for Sophia when Daryl caught sight of a beautiful rabbit. It was big and fatty, destiend to be a delicious meal. But Gale had been buckling her belt, not paying attention as she followed behind him. She stepped on a branch, spooking the mouthwatering hare, Daryls stomach growled as he watched it hop away.

"Whatever, it was one bunny. And you're just jealous cause you have little baby feet, and y'know what they say.." "Wha'?..oh ew, shut up."

The two continued their hunt for Sophia, shushing each other as they walked. "Shhh." "Shut up." "Pfft, how about no? SHHHHH." "DUDE SHUT UP, LOOK." Gale had gripped Daryls chin, forcing him to quiet down and look in the direction she was pointing.

There was a small house sitting in a clearing, it seemed too good to be true, it may as well have been made of candy. Daryl reached his hand up, grasping Gales wrist before giding her hand down, causing it to release his face as he looked over to her.

The two shared excited smiles before they raced to the front door, pushing each other in an effort to get there first. Which had no effect as they arrived at the same time, taking position on either side of the door. The two raised their pointer fingers to their lips, shushing each other once again, Gale reached out, slowly twisting the handle open as Daryl raised his crossbow. She quickly opened the door, ducking down as Daryl aimed over her, clearing the room before tapping her back, signaling it was empty.

She rose again, taking out her knife as the pair split up, clearing the entire house in around five minutes. They met back in the living room and shared disappointed glances, where yes, the house was clear from walkers or dangerous people, but it was also clear from Sophia.

"Ugh, what is that smell?" Daryl asked, covering his nose. "You?" "I hate you." He followed the stench, finding the source was a can of tuna in the trash. He fished it out, holding it up for Gale to see before throwing it at her feet, it splattered on her boot, making her gag.

Daryl ignored her, walking towards a small cupboard, it seemed like it had been opened, and the open can of tuna..Sophia could of been here. He whistled, making Gale immediatley arrive at his side. He nodded for her to open it as he lifted his crossbow. She did just that, to reveal...an empty cupboard.

"Well, I mean, there are blankets and shit, maybe she was staying in it? No one else could fit in here." Daryl said, trying to be optimistic as he saw the hope drain from Gales face. She gave a small nod before walking out of the house. She felt horrible, all she wanted was to find that little girl and so far, they had nothing. They had some blankets in a cupboard and a can of tuna. She had to find her, it was her fault- her thoughts got cut short by a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, look." She turned at his words, following his pointed finger to see a bunch of white flowers. Cherokee roses. Daryl lead her over to them before kneeling down, her standing above him. "Have you ever heard the story of them?" Gale shook her head at his words.

"So, when the American soldiers were moving the indians off their land on the trail of tears, y'know? The Cherokee moms were crying from grieving so much over their little ones that they were losing along the way, either from disease, starvation, or if they just disappeared. The uh elders said this prayer, asking for a sign to help the mothers, give em' hope and stuff. And then, the next day, these flowers started to bloom right where the moms had cried."

The truth was, Gale did know that story, she knew it word for word, but she still allowed him to tell it, his voice calming her. "You should give one to Carol, tell her that story, I think shed like that." "You think so?" "Mhm, definitely." He gave her a small smile and a nod before plucking a rose from the ground, holding it out, away from him in attempt not to hurt it. The two walked back to the farm in a comfortable silence, enjoying the new found hope they had.

Paige was fuming. First, she had that super weird and creepy interaction, then a full blown panic attack- having no idea where Gale was and everything in her room being covered in blood most definitely did not help. Then there was a fucking walker in the well and Glenn almost died. Then she found out Gale had gone out with Daryl searching for Sophia without permission from Hershel or HER. So now, Paige was pacing, waiting for any sight of her wife to breach the treeline. And as soon as she saw that brown jacket emerge from the trees, she took off in a sprint.

Gale and Daryl had finally arrived back, the first thing Gale saw was Paige coming towards her. A smile filled her face as her beautiful wife got closer, expecting to be met with a hug or a kiss, what she didn't expect..was a hard slap across the face.
