The next day Pearl was very upset with Colin. He had pushed her sister to much which resulted in her being embarrassed in front of the new duke due to Cressida. But of course, she was still making the dress she planned on making for him because she still loved him. She didn't know why but she did and would live to be courting him, but he seemed to not push into the courting idea. She had bumped into the prince a few times that night which also resulted in a jealous Colin. Penelope was on the side sad about what happened the night before as well. Pearl was working on daisy designs and green highlights in the dress. She saw her mother come in so she decided that it would be best for her to go into her room to finish the design of her dress before she can continue. She may have spent hours in her room designing, not realizing that it had become dark. Then there was a knock on her door. "Come in!" Her maid Adora walked in and said, "There is someone outside waiting for you." Pearl seemed confused by this but followed Adora.
They walked to the gardens where she saw Colin waiting for her. "Colin? What are you doing out here? This is too dangerous for you to be here." She nodded to Adora telling her that she could go. "I begged Adora to give us a moment alone." Colin said. Pearl looked at Colin with a frown as he said, "I wanted to see how you were. To see if Pen was ok after what happened." Pearl looked at Colin and said, "You've read Whistledown." Colin nodded grabbing her hands pulling her close and said, "My intentions are not to play with you. I just want to make sure that you are happy." Pearl looked at Colin and said, "I will never truly be happy." Colin seemed confused by this and asked her. "The man I want to court is not looking to be courted."
Pearl pulled her hands away and walked away as Colin asked, "Is it because of me?" Pearl shook her head as Colin walked in front of her making her look at him and he looked at her lips. Then back into her eyes. Colin grabbed her by the waist pulling her close and spoke. "Pearl, I want to court you. I truly do. But I am scared to break your heart." Pearl brought her hands to his chest and said, "Don't be Colin. I want you to court me. To be my dates to the ball." Colin leaned down and their lips almost met when Adora came out and said, "My lady. Your mother is looking for you." Pearl sighed and pulled away to walk back inside when Colin couldn't take it any longer and kissed her with so much passion, making her breathless.
They pulled away and Colin left leaving a shocked Pearl and she headed back inside unnoticed.
