Whispers in the Shadows - Chapter 10: Web of Lies
Scene 1: The Unraveling Truth
Hana walked through the school's corridors, her steps slowing as she began to notice the way people were looking at her. Whispers trailed behind her like a shadow, muffled words and sharp glances that made her stomach churn. Something was wrong. The usual chatter in the hallways seemed to die down whenever she passed by, replaced by pointed stares and low murmurs. Her unease deepened with every step, but before she could fully process it, Jisoo grabbed her arm.
"Come with me," Jisoo hissed, her voice urgent as she dragged Hana into the nearest empty classroom. The door shut behind them with a loud click, and Jisoo immediately turned to face her, eyes wide with a mix of anger and fear.
"What's going on?" Hana asked, her confusion evident. She tried to pull her arm away, but Jisoo's grip tightened.
"You haven't seen it, have you?" Jisoo's tone was accusatory, a hint of disbelief laced in her words. "How could you be so careless?"
"Seen what?" Hana's frustration began to bubble up. "What are you talking about?"
Jisoo sighed, pulling out her phone. With a few quick taps, she brought up a webpage and shoved it in front of Hana's face. Hana's eyes widened as she read the headline: *"Exposing Lee Heeseung: The Dark Secrets Behind the Perfect Boy."*
The blood drained from Hana's face. The article was detailed, far too detailed, and it had her name attached to it. "I didn't write this," she muttered, her voice trembling as the weight of the situation settled on her shoulders. "I would never-"
"Whether you wrote it or not, it's out there, and everyone thinks you did," Jisoo cut in, her voice sharp. "Do you know what this means, Hana? Heeseung is going to lose it, and he's going to come after you."
A flicker of panic surged through Hana, but it was quickly overshadowed by anger. "I don't care about Heeseung," she snapped, her eyes narrowing. "But I'm not going to let this ruin my life. I need to clear my name before this gets any worse."
"Good," Jisoo said, nodding slightly, though her expression remained tense. "But you're going to need proof. Right now, it's your word against this... and I'm telling you, no one's going to take your word."
Hana bit her lip, her mind racing as she considered her options. She wasn't about to let herself become the scapegoat for someone else's scheme. But how could she prove she wasn't involved? Whoever had written the article had done a good job making it look like her work. It was like being framed for a crime she didn't commit, and the walls were closing in fast.
"I'll find out who did this," Hana finally said, her voice firm with determination. "But first, I need to talk to Heeseung before he goes completely ballistic."
Jisoo nodded, stepping aside as Hana made her way to the door. "Be careful," she warned. "He's not going to believe you without solid evidence."
Hana didn't reply. She was already bracing herself for the confrontation that awaited her.
Scene 2: The Confrontation
The school bell rang, signaling the start of the first period, but Hana's thoughts were too scattered to focus on anything academic.
As she made her way to class, her mind raced with potential ways to clear her name. She didn't notice the figure approaching her until it was too late.
"Heeseung."
His name slipped from her lips before she could stop it. Heeseung stood in front of her, his expression a storm of emotions-anger, betrayal, and something else she couldn't quite place.
