Sapphire POV:
As soon as Mileena left the room, I had a feeling that something was amiss. I've been feeling that way for some time. It didn't just begin. Mileena's transformation into a white wolf at 5 brought about significant changes. My daughter is still perceived as a monstrosity that will bring downfall to the pack. There are a few who think she is a Lycan blessed by the moon goddess. My only desire was for my daughter to experience a typical life. She is being treated as if she were a contagious illness.
It's a mother's instinct to sense her daughter's pain. Mileena is doing everything she can to avoid being a burden to us. She thinks that she is responsible for everything happening in our lives. I wish to express to her that she should never entertain such thoughts; it deeply saddens me to witness my daughter like this. I make an effort to stay uninvolved, desiring that Mileena will choose to confide in us, her father and me, about the situation. In the night, she sometimes cries out for help, echoing in my heart. I plan to address this issue by approaching the King and Queen, but some members of the group are causing chaos.
The King and Queen created distance between themselves and me and Jedidiah. Within the pack, we held a high level of respect as warriors. The majesties decided to demote both me and Jedidiah a few weeks back. We are now just regular warriors. Both Jedidiah and I were unhappy with the situation, but we were powerless to change it.
While Mileena was upstairs, Jedidiah and I stayed in the kitchen. I went to the stove and put the tea kettle on. I took out two cups from the cabinet and poured coffee into them. When the tea kettle whistled, I poured the water and added cream and sugar. I went over to the table and sat down with my mate. We sat in silence, drinking, until I broke the silence. "Jedidiah, what do you think we should do?"
"I'm not sure I understand, can you elaborate?"
"How should we handle the problem of people bullying Mileena?"
"How did you find out about that event? Did she inform you?"
"It's obvious that something is happening, but she's refusing to share."
You can't discuss what you don't know about, Sapphire. Our experiences have been numerous. I can't handle any more problems without knowing the facts."
"Jedidiah, I have knowledge that Mileena is not acting like herself. In all honesty, she no longer smiles. Her appearance suggests she is depressed and broken. I simply want to find out what is troubling our child."
"If Mileena decides to share, we'll find out in due time. Let's shift our attention to other matters for now."
"You could be right."
As I lay in my bedroom later that night, I heard whimpers when I got up. While walking out of my room, I glance over and see that my mate is sleeping. I can hear them once more. I notice the sounds was coming from Mileena room. I go over to her door, put my ear against it, and listen attentively.
"Leave me alone," Mileena pleads, insisting she's not an abomination.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I stood there. My blood boiled after hearing my baby girl in such distress, disregarding what my mate said. I will do whatever it takes to keep my pup safe. I'm prepared to be banished from this pack, if that's what it takes.
