"Why did you move without warning? I've been trying to find you for a month, Prem." Kao, Prem's manager and almost best friend, said as he paced back and forth inside the brunette's apartment.
"I didn't want you to come after me. I've already told you, I'm not going to write any more books" Prem, who was sitting on the sofa, said, causing Kao to stop his pacing around the living room and stare at the brunette.
"And why is that? You're one of the best writers and your stories always sell a lot, you have fans even though they've never seen you." He walked over to the sofa and sat down next to the younger man.
"I don't care, I'm not going to write anything, I don't even have the slightest creativity for a new story."
"I know, you can take your time, but don't say you'll never write again Prem" Prem turned to the older man.
"Do you know why I came here? Writing was my way of escaping from the world, escaping from myself" Kao bowed his head.
"He asked me about you"
"Don't tell him where I live, don't give him any information about me or I'll stab you Kao!!!" Prem was about to get up when the doorbell rang. He went to answer it and his anger faded a little at seeing that person there. "Boun..."
"I came to ask you if you'd picked up my towel, I forgot it in the pool and when I went to get it, it was gone." Kao watched the man and noticed how Prem's expression had changed. He glanced at the armchair he was sitting in and a white towel was draped over it; the man wouldn't be able to see his towel from there.
"I didn't take your towel, but if you want, I can help you look for it." Prem would get closer to Boun, but he moves away, shaking his head.
"No no no, it's okay, I probably left it inside the house anyway," his tone was apprehensive, clearly wanting to avoid the brunette in front of him. "I'm leaving."
"All right" Prem watched the man return to his apartment and listened as he locked the door.
"So he's your new prey?" The businessman's voice drew Prem's attention away from Boun's door.
"It doesn't matter"
"Prem, you know your manner can scare others, don't you? I think he already saw that from the way he reacted there, why don't you try being less impulsive?
"GET OUT OF HERE!!!!" The brunette shouted, scaring Kao.
"Fine, I'll go, but I'll come back" Kao grabbed his bag and headed for the apartment door "Bye fireworks, make sure you don't explode"
"I'm not fireworks, I'M A GRENADE, I KILL EVERYONE AROUND ME!!!!!!!" Prem grabbed a small porcelain ornament from the coffee table and threw it towards the door, but Kao was faster and closed the door before it could hit.
"Prem snorted, his face red with blood. He hated being mistaken for fireworks. His breathing became ragged, those crises would come again.
Damn the past, damn the unresolved disorders, damn life.
He began to be afraid of that person meeting him again. He had already asked Kao about himself, so this was a warning that sooner or later he would meet him again.
Prem walked desperately to the kitchen and pulled out a huge knife from the cutlery drawer. He walked to the door and opened it, but his step was interrupted by a person standing in front of him.
"What are you going to do?" The person moved away a little "Prem, why are you holding that knife?"
"I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!!!! I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!!! I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!!!" His eyes were filled with tears, which fell without stopping, wetting his entire face.
"Prem, look at me" Prem finally faced the person and saw that it was Boun in front of him "Calm down, okay?" His voice was soft and a look of understanding was thrown at him, leaving Prem static for a while, paying attention to Boun's every move "Look at me, you can do this later, right now you have to calm down. Can I have that knife?"
Prem had stopped crying and for a few seconds had forgotten why he had freaked out, he handed the knife to Boun and stared at the older man. "He calmed me down, why did he do that?" Prem thought.
"All right, everything's fine, see?" He looked at Prem with a smile on his face "Now come on, let's get a drink of water and you can relax." Boun took Prem's arm and the two of them went into the apartment. Boun put him down on the sofa and went into the kitchen to put the knife away. He got a glass of water and brought it to Prem.
"Thank you"
"What were you going to do with that knife?" Prem stared at the older man who had sat next to him on the sofa.
"I was going to go after someone"
"Really? With the knife?" His tone sounded so innocent, it didn't even seem like Prem was about to do anything crazy "Were you going after the man who was here?"
"No, it's someone else" Prem looked down at his hands.
"Ah, I see. Prem, can I teach you something?" Prem nodded. "When you realize you're about to do something crazy, hug your shoulders like this" Boun hugged his own shoulders to demonstrate how to do it to Prem who looked at him "And count to 10 slowly, think of someone you can call and try to tell what you want to do before you do it, like you did here just now.
"What do you mean?"
"You told me you wanted to kill someone, so do it. Before you do anything, tell someone what you're thinking of doing, even if it's the craziest thing in the world, like calling someone and saying 'I want to kill someone' tell them, okay?"
"All right"
"Do you feel better?"
"Yes"
"You see how it works, you just have to say it before you explode completely"
"Thanks, but why did you come to help me?"
"I heard something shatter on the floor and you screaming, so I thought you'd been hurt, so I came to see"
"I see. How did you know the right way to calm me down?"
"I'm a doctor, sometimes there are children on duty who don't want to go to the doctor, so I have to calm them down and tell them it's okay. And when I work as an anesthesiologist too, because I have to calm down people who are going to have surgery and are apprehensive.
"I get it"
"But I'm not going to lie, you scared me" He gave a slight, relaxed smile; Prem liked seeing that smile.
"I'm very intense, I'm sorry"
"It's okay, everyone freaks out sometimes"
