The twins didn't know how to feel about their grandpa. A complete stranger, yet not a stranger. It was an odd feeling, was this how their Mom felt? After she changed Bridget's personality? The twins wondered. Regardless, while there was something about him that was off, the twins still made a point to actually talk to him and get to know him.
"Grandma Bridget?" "Yes, my loves?" "Can we see your playing cards?" Bridget smiles at them. "Of course, my dears! I see Red still hasn't gotten you two your own decks yet." She glares at Red. "You didn't give me my deck until i was sixteen!" "Well, their birthday is coming up soon!" Bridget smiles. "It's six months away, Bridget." Chloe laughs. "Well, early birthday gift then?" She tries. "Mom, no." Red shakes her head. "Oh leave it, darling. If Red doesn't want to give them cards yet, then that's her choice." James grips her hips. The twins notice Bridget stiffen a bit before relaxing again. "Thank you, dad!" Red smiles. They share a look before walking over to them. "Oh, grandpa James, we've been better at fencing, can we show you?" Cree asks him. A part of them didn't want to hurt their grandfather, he's their grandfather. But if he can hurt Bridget, then by all means....
"Alright then, let's see what you've learned." James smirks as he grabs Red's sword that was sitting in an umbrella stand, which doubled as a sword and weapons hold. "Twins, take it easy on your grandpa." Chloe warns. "Oh no, darling. By all means, please. Have at it." That was all the twins needed. Something about him was definitely off. The thought of him hurting their grandma Bridget boiled a fiery rage inside them that neither had any idea that they had. As they both swung their swords, he effortlessly blocked both. This process continues until Crimson's rage and anger can no longer be contained. Seeing red, no pun intended, she swings low, causing James to duck down to block before she drops her sword, a second blade coming out of her pocket comes up to strike him across the cheek. "Whoa!" "Crimson!"
The young mothers, and Bridget, who were watching immediately run up and quickly inspect James. "You ok, dad?" Red asks him. "Yes, I'm alright darling. You two have got some wickedly talented kids. Dare i say, even villainous." He smirks. "Dad...." "James." "What? I'm just saying. They were good, that second blade? Never saw it coming. Genius." Crimson grimaces at the thought. She didn't want to be a villain, she didn't want to be anything like her grandfather. But then again, blood runs deep. She watches as Bridget takes him inside to clean his wound. "What was that sweetie?" Red asks her. "What? We were just playing." Crimson shrugs before going to sit next to her brother, who was eying them the whole time. "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" He mumbled. She simply nods. "Always carry a second blade." Cree nods. "Ma did teach us that, she should have known." They watch as Red goes to check on her dad while Chloe starts cleaning the table.
"Maybe we should try talking to ma about this." Crimson suggests. "It's worth a shot, i suppose." They join Chloe in the dining room, she smiles as she sees them. "Hey twins, you wanna help me clean up?" They both start picking up dishes and cups before Crimson speaks up. "Hey, Ma?" "Yes, sweetie?" "Um, did you notice something about grandpa James? Like something weird? Off?" Chloe shrugs. "Like what?" Cree shrugs. "Um, I don't know, i mean he was pretty affectionate with grandma but she seemed like she didn't like it." Chloe shrugs. "Ok? Your mom kisses me on the cheek 90% of the day, i never like it. She always leaves a red heart and it's hard to get off sometimes." The twins snicker. "What?" Chloe was confused. "Red, heart. Princess Red of Hearts." Chloe sighs. "You really do have your mother's humor." She mumbles. They decided not to bring it up yet, they needed proof. Right now, they were running on assumptions. Their mom's would never believe them.
As the day turns into night, everyone is soon settled into their rooms. Red and Chloe take the master bedroom, of course. The kids in their own rooms. While the visiting parents take the guest rooms, surprisingly there's more than one. Before they time travelled, there was only one guest bedroom, now there's four. Of course, they were all set up the same way but, did they really need four guest bedrooms? They did ask their moms about this, to which Chloe simply replied, "We have four guest bedrooms for occasions like this, when both mine and your mom's family come to visit." As they were talking, the sound of broken glass echoed through the halls. Everyone hurries to see what all the commotion was about. Red being the fastest as she knew it was coming from the guest room that her parents were staying in. She bursts open the door to see the vase broken and Bridget cleaning it up. "Mom! What happened?!" She hurries to stop her and help her stand before she ends up cutting herself. "It-it's my fault, we were dancing and my hip accidentally knocked it over." Bridget sighs. "It's ok, Bridget. Accidents happen. Let's just clean this up and head to bed, ok?" Chloe smiles as she places her hand on her shoulder.
The broken vase is soon cleaned and everyone, except Bridget and Ella, as they were chatting in the kitchen, finally go to bed. Chloe is sitting on their bed, deep in thought when Red crawls on top of her. "Hey beautiful." She whispered as she kissed her neck. "Hey Red." She replies, still deep in thought. Red pulls away. "Red? Oh no, what did i do this time? Did i forget to take out the trash? Did i leave the toilet seat up? What is it, woman?!" Red jokes, knowing full well that neither of them have that certain appendage. Chloe looks unimpressed as she smacks her arm. "This is serious." Red sits in front of her. "Ok, what's up?" Chloe always loved Red for that. The fact that she can be playful with her, always joking around and being affectionate but the moment Chloe says she needs to talk, Red gives her her full attention. She couldn't help but smile before she pulls her in for a kiss. "I don't think you're gonna like it." She whispered as they pulled away.
