Chapter 11

They quietly follow James as he makes his way to Bridget's dorm. He knocks gently and waits for her to open the door, clearly anxious as he taps his hook on his thigh. The door opens and Bridget eyes widen. "James!" He quickly hugs her, careful not to poke her with his hook, and spins her around. "Ah! James, put me down!" Bridget giggles. Red and Chloe were watching from the end of the hall. Something about the scene gave Red flashbacks. Her actual parents hugging back in their own time. She prayed to the gods that they can fix this.

"Well, that gives me flashbacks." Cree watches them. "Tell me about it." Crimson mumbled. "What are you doing here? Did we have a date? Did i forget?" Bridget quickly checks her calendar. "No, no. We didn't. I just....wanted to see you." Bridget smiles as she blushes. "Well, here i am." She shrugs. "Here you are." James smiles. "Bridget, would you like to go on another date with me? Later today? I wanna take you on my ship." Bridget gasps. "Ooh your pirate ship?! How exciting! Of course I'll come!" She gives him a hug. James smiles and hugs her back tightly. "I'll uh, I'll see you later." He lets go and backs up slowly out the door. Bridget nods. "Later." "I'll come by around five?" James suggests. She smiles and nods again. "Five." "Great!" James leaves as Bridget closes her door. He rounds the corner and pumps his fist in the air. "Yes!" The four of them can't help but smile at their interaction. "Aw, he's like a love sick teenager." Chloe smiles. "He is a love sick teenager baby." Red tells her. "Oh details!" Chloe waves her off.

"So, now what? Do we follow him or keep an eye on Bridget?" Cree asks. Red sighs. "I hate to say this but maybe we should split up. You two follow James, keep the VK's away from him. Your ma and i will keep Bridget company. Probably help her get ready for her date later." They all agree and go their separate ways. They wait for the twins to be out of sight before they knock on Bridget's door. She opens it with a smile on her face. "Oh hey! Thank gods you girls are here! I need your help getting ready! James asked me out again! He's taking me on his ship and i have no idea what to wear! I mean, what will look good blowing in the wind? And what won't get blown away?" Bridget looks through her closet. Red and Chloe share a look. After years of dating and then years of marriage, they can read each other easily at this point. Red gives her a look, We should try and follow her on this date and Chloe responds with another look, agreed but how?

"Bridget? You alright? You seem a little nervous." Red asks her. "Nervous? Haha, why would i be nervous? It's not like I've never been on a ship before. It's not like I've never had a boyfriend before. It's not like I've never been on multiple dates before. Why would i be nervous?" She laughs nervously. "Bridget?" Red gives her a look. "Ok I'm nervous. I've never actually been out with someone before. I mean, back in Wonderland, i would date but that was more of hanging out. Nobody would dare to try and date the Princess of Hearts. But it's different this time, it's real. And I'm kind of freaking out." Bridget takes a deep breath. Red understands. Well, not because everyone was afraid of her, more like her rejecting everyone. No one really caught her attention until her wife came into her life. "I have an idea. Why don't we join you? Make it a double date and take some of the pressure off?" Red smiles and looks at Chloe, who nods. "Yeah, that's a great idea!" Bridget hesitates for a second. "Ok, yeah. I'd really appreciate it, thank you girls!"

There's a knock at the door and Bridget goes to answer. "Hello love, you look....wonderful." James smirks. Bridget blushes. "Very funny." "No, really. I mean it. You look great, darling." "Well, thank you. Um, i wanted to ask...." "Yes, darling?" "Would it be ok if we made it a double date?" James looks at her confused. "With who?" Bridget steps aside as Chloe and Red come into view. Red gives him an awkward wave as Chloe just smiles. "Oh, hello girls! Didn't see you there. Um, sure. I don't mind. The more the merrier, right?" He shrugs. They all make their way to the enchanted lake, the two mothers looking around for their kids, knowing they were following James. They spot them in the distance, hiding in a tree. "So.... it's nice to see you girls again, i apologize for how we left things last time. I didn't mean to be rude....Chloe? Was it?" She nods and smiles. "Yeah, uh it's ok. It's in the past now." She holds Red's hand. James nods. "You two look good together." He tells them. "Thanks James." Red smiles. It's weird, going on a double date with her parents. Dinner while Crimson and Cree babysat the little ones was different, that was family dinner, this is something different. She wasn't sure how she felt about it.

They make it to James' ship. The twins had noticed their mothers joining the date so they decided to head back to their dorm and ask them about it later. James and Red jump on before turning around and helping Bridget and Chloe step on board. Because, of course Red can jump three feet away like nothing. Which, it was nothing, compared to her jumping on rooftops. He sets sail as the girls set up the picnic. The blanket was big enough for all of them as they sat opposite corners from one another. Red and Chloe on one corner of the blanket, Chloe sitting in between her legs as she leans back onto Red for support while Red wrapped her arms around her waist while resting her chin on Chloe's shoulder. James and Bridget weren't quite on that level of intimacy yet, and frankly Bridget was surprised that Red and Chloe were already that close with each other. They chat about school and homework and life back at home. Really, Red and Chloe basically just talked about their teen years. Can't exactly talk about home life when one of you is the principal of a school while the other is a Swords and Shields coach.

As the sun starts to set, Red and Chloe stand, claiming to want to watch the sunset together by the railing. "Everything good so far." Red leans over the railing. Chloe nods. "Yeah, we just gotta keep it that way." Red smiles. "This is nice though. I can't remember the last time we went on a date." Chloe holds her hand. "We went out last week." Red tells her. "Well, the week before we came back here." Chloe rolls her eyes. "A quickie in the back seat of your car is not a date." "Hey! I didn't hear complaining about it. In fact, i think your exact words were....'Yes! Yes! Pound me! Fuck me!'." She smirks before Chloe slaps her arm. "Shut up!" She blushes deeply. "I see you blushing." Red smirks more. "I'm not blushing, that's simply the wind from all this sailing." Chloe lies. "Mhm, sure." She glances over at James and Bridget. "I wonder what Uliana is planning." She mumbles. Chloe holds her hand. "Whatever it is, we'll be ready for it." Red nods. "You're right." They walk back over to Bridget and James. The date continues without a hitch, not long after they make it back to the school. "Well, thanks for letting us crash your date." Chloe smiles. "No problem girls, any time." James smiles. He seemed so nice and kind. Whatever Uliana did really messed him up. What was she planning? "We'll see you tomorrow in class!"

Red and Chloe go their separate ways as James and Bridget kiss goodnight. "You think the twins found anything out while they were following James?" Chloe asks her. "I don't know, we'll ask them when we go inside." Red unlocks the door and opens it to see everything trashed. A deck of cards scattered everywhere on the floor, broken glass and the unmistakable marks of tentacles suckers on the wall. "Oh my god...." Chloe gasps. "Twins!" She quickly looks around. "Chlo." "No." "Chloe." "No." "Chloe!" "No!" Red quickly grabs her wife by the shoulders. "You need to breathe, ok? We're gonna get them back. I promise." "How Red? Uliana took the kids! She probably took them back to the lagoon! She's gonna know we're coming this time! How do we get them back? We can't do this." Chloe starts to sob as Red holds her tight. "We won't. We have to tell somebody. We have to come clean." Chloe pulls away slightly. "You mean....?" Red nods sadly. "We have to tell Bridget and Ella who we really are and what we're doing here."
