After what felt like ages the bell finally rang. I bolted out the classroom ignoring the fact that my phone was still with the teacher. I honestly couldn't care less, I just wanted to get out of that suffocating class fast. I walked down the hallway to get my locker so I could pick some stuff up. I took deep breathes as I speed walked down the hall.
I felt eyes on me.
Every person I passed turned to face me with an odd judgy expression on their face before turning to their friends and whispering to their ears about something. I turned behind me to see if they were looking at someone else, but there wasn't anyone behind me, it was just me.
They were judging me.You're just being paranoid Jules. Calm down!
I reached my locker, twisted the code to release the lock. As I swung my locker open a finger tapped my shoulders. I turned around immediately, it felt like my heart jumped to my throat.
"Hey," a familiar voice greeted me, Caleb.
"Hi..." I exhaled dramatically and returned back his smile.
"Can we talk?" He asked, concern clear in his voice.
I sighed thinking it was probably about Angelica and I smiled warmly. "Of course, but could we do this later? I've gotta go to my chem class, I'm sure Angelica will open up soon."
"Angelica? This isn't about Angelica," he said and reached for his phone in his pockets. "It's about you."
My eyebrows squeeze together in confusion, "Me?""Where's your phone?"
"My phones with Mr Martins, why?"
"You remember Mr Crossfield?"
"Mr Crossfield? Yeah I do, the Pervy son of a Bitch that was arrested for SA." I replied with a gross expression."So... during second period, everyone except the teachers received an email from an anonymous sender." He says as he unlocks his phone scrolls for a while and shows me a message on the screen.
I looked at the message for a while, reading each line bit by bit. My mouth dropped when I was the lines "biological daughter; Julia Evergreen."
I looked at Caleb then at the email which displayed two images, one of my birth certificate, all the other parts were cropped or blurred out apart from three entries, Name of parent along with Name of child. There was two Name of parent column, one for the father and one for the mother in the space of the mother, my moms first, middle and last name was there and in the space for the father Mr Crossfield's first, second and last name was there.
I must have stared at the certificate for two minutes, the room felt still, blood drained from my face, my mouth was parched and dry."Hey." Caleb snapped his fingers close to my eyes.
"I, of course don't believe it. I came to see if you were alright," He smiled.I chuckled, loudly. "Who sent this shit?" My voice was no where near calm or relaxed. I felt my face begin to fume. I turned to my right, then to my left swiftly examining the halls. It was now empty. Caleb and I stood alone as my breathing became more ragged.
"Hey, I might not be able to understand what's probably going through your mind right now, but don't worry we'll figure it out," Caleb said softly and hugged me.
