Walking around a random house to look for a room to think about why my face lit up when our eyes met? Why I still wanted to see him and talk to him? I moved on!
Didn't I?"Who's ready to take down the undefeated, Darwin!" A familiar voice says
I walk towards the crowd of high teens squeezing myself through to get to the speaker.
First thing I noticed were the red cups on the table in two separate straight lines, next was two classmates, one from my chem class, the other from geometry class. Phill yelled a couple minutes ago and Darwin was probably a contestant. I didn't know type of game it was, I didn't care. What I did know was that it had something to do with getting drunk, something I really needed. I wanted to escape my reality, close my eyes to the way I felt.
Have I drank before? Yea of course I have, red wine at one of my mom's fundraiser.
Was I about to drink cups with random combinations of alcohol? Yes, yes I was."Go Julia!"
"Go Julia!"
"Go Julia!"
The crowd cheered me on I was about to clear my last cup, the twelfth. I felt my hands trembling as I grabbed the last. But everywhere was void, no more cheers, I couldn't see the cup in my hands any longer, I felt the beer dripping down the sides of my lips, it felt like time slowed."Julia!" A voice called out.
"Hey."
"You okay?" Angelica said and shook my body to get me out of the distance I found myself in."Yea.." cut by short burning sensation I felt in my chest followed by rising of some sorta liquid up my throat, and before I knew it, it came out.
"I'm sorry." I say with my face in my palms, tears starting to rush out.
"Hey, you didn't do anything wrong, I'm sorry we left you, it was supposed to be our best night out together, and we fucked that up, not you. Now wanna ditch this place and go get ice cream?"
I let out a short breath and wiped my tears with the sleeves of my top, "Yea, I'd love that."
"I can't find Demi. I'm assuming she's with Antony."
"Who?"
"The jock from earlier."
"We'll share our location."
"Yea that's fine, now let's go!" She said dragging me out the house.
I step foot outside and a soft gentle breeze greeted me, it was so calming, polar opposites to the building I got out of.
I got into the car and like she read my mind, she blasted the radio and drove off to Dunkers."No cus you had to tell my mom, I was grounded for weeks." Angelica said and engulfed the last drop of her milkshake.
"Waiter! One-""Hey you two!" Demi says poking Angelica's cheeks.
"Hey," we both say snobbishly.
"Guys, I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have done that but it happened, and I know I really messed up our plans buh I wanna spend my last couple of hours with you both."
"Demi apologizing is something I never thought I'd see," Angelica burst out a loud chuckle and told Demi to seat.
"So, wanna tell us what the guy was on about?" I asked."Not really babe... I just wanna forget about what happened and look into the future with you girls," Demi said her lips shaped into a weak smile.
Angelica and I looked at each other for a moment and immediately we understood it was deeper than we thought.
"Riley! Can I get a refill with a double scoop Sundae!" Angelica yells at one of the waiters who was a friend of hers."Geez, it's late," I say looking at my phones lock Screen.
"It's not that late just 11:30," Angelica says.
We were at dunkers for about 2 hours now and all we were talking about was if Chelsea from our favorite Telenovela series, actually deserved Carlos, the male lead."I mean Chelsea is such a jealous bitch," Angelica says plainly.
"Angie! How? She's just a girl standing on business,i it's not like she asked Carlos to like her," Demi says with a shrug ."Doesn't matter she really screwed up his brains," Angie replies.
"It's getting really late don't you think?" I asked the two of them.
"Late? There's no rush, Gabby doesn't mind us"
"Do you?!" She asked the owner of the diner, Gabby."Not at all, you girls enjoy yourself," she says and gives off a radiant smile.
"I do actually have to get going tho, the flights is at four," Demi says.
This reminds us all of what was next to come after today, today would be the last day we three would be together, laughing and smiling and drinking together. We would no longer be the trio anymore. Today our loveliest, sweetest, sassiest friend would be leaving us."Demi, I'm really gonna miss you," I say as tears cascaded down like a torrential storm.
"Ahh come here, quit crying, I'm not dying," she says and hugs me tightly, I felt another warm embrace, Angie had joined in.
"Promise to text us about everything!" Angelica says wiping tears off her hot cheeks."Yes MOM, I will," she says and lets out a laugh.
A tender moment unfolded as the three of us sat together, our eyes locked in a deep, unspoken understanding. Demi's voice cracked with emotion, "I'll miss our late-night conversations, our silly jokes, and our deep, meaningful talks."
Demi paused, choking back tears. "I'll miss our spontaneous adventures, our quiet moments of comfort, and our unwavering support for each other."
Our eyes welled up, mirroring the pain of separation. "You're more than just friends to me; you're sisters, confidants, a huge piece of my heart."The air was heavy with the weight of our impending separation, as we held each other's hands, savoring the warmth of our friendship, and the memories we shared on the continent she'd soon leave behind.
"Every minute and seconds I spent with you both were the best of my entire life, I'll miss you both."
