Changkyun drove with the top of his car down as he whizzed through the empty highway underneath the stars. There was no other soul in sight, not one to disturb his night.

He stopped by the side of the road and dug for his phone that had fallen through the cracks of the seat beside the driver's. Swearing under his breath he caught it using the tips of his index and middle finger. He started to get a cramp which caused him to swear even louder.

He unlocked his phone, looked at the time, and turned it off. He removed his baseball cap, deeply sighed, and tapped the steering wheel pensively. "I wonder what time it is."

This time he looked at the watch that lazily sat on his wrist whose melt glistened underneath the streetlamps. He traced his ring finger on the rim of the watch.

12:01 am.

He took another deep breath and allowed the brightness of his phone to completely blind him. He scrolled through his menu looking at the three same apps that he always jumps across.

The breeze did what it does and made the hair on his nape stand on attention. He pressed a button and the hinges obeyed closing the hood. The last of the gust of wind made the stray strand of hair on his coif fall out of place. He pushed it back and tucked it behind his ear.

His thumb hovered over his contacts and stopped over your name. It is now 12:08 and the urge to talk to you is getting stronger but the chances of you being awake was close to nil.

"Ugh!" He rubbed his hand over his face again and again. "Why does she sleep so early? Am I dating a grandma?" He turned his phone off and drove to a park.

The park was situated beside a beach. If you got a good parking slot, you can actually hear the waves push against the sand and the rocks chilling on the shore. Kyun didn't really have any competition at that time of night and got this very coveted spot. He pulled the brake, rolled down his windows, and put his seat on an incline.

He tried calling you again.

"Ah! Y/N why do you sleep so early?" He put his phone on his chest and his arm over his eyes.

With no vision of anything he heard everything: the waves aggressively attempting to crawl on the shore, the seagulls who are too happy squawking to keep everyone awake, and the very light and muffled steps on top of the pebbles.

The hair on his arm stood and the pores on his skin turned to goosebumps. He lifted his arm from over his eyes and peaked over to watch.

12:30 am.

He is now beginning to realize that being alone by the water at midnight might be more sadistic than romantic.

The ruffling of pebbles underneath light footsteps is heard again. He sat straight up and quickly looked around.

No one was in sight.

"Wait..." Jooheon clasped his hands over his ears just leaving enough space between his fingers just so that he could hear Changkyun. He stood up and moved closer to Shownu. He squeezed his shoulder under Shownu's armpit. "OK, I am safe now." Urging Changkyun to continue.

The air got colder and the footsteps got louder. He rolled up the windows, leaned his seat all the way, put his arm over his eyes, and prayed to God that he was indeed very much alone in that parking lot. The air blowing from the air conditioner suddenly felt a little colder but he needed the sound of the blower to fill the deafening silence.
