The Weight of Love

Oh how I wish I could vanish from this world,

Without a trace of regret unfurled.

Yet I must endure, for those I hold near,

My family and friends, whose love I revere.

Though my heart may ache and my soul may sigh,

Their tears I cannot bear, so I'll continue to try.

How I wish I could drown in the night,

Without reaching for you in my plight.

But I'm drawn to the past, to a love now dust,

My trust misplaced, yet still I must

Dial your number, my heart's bitter plea,

Even in the depths of inebriety.
