Three Times The Charm

Fir, the robot, checked on the patient and left him with his medicine after ensuring that Dorion was fine. The cub continued to gaze at Ren with worried eyes.

"Ren?" it called softly, sensing the whirlwind of emotions coursing through Ren's mind. Though not experiencing them to the full extent, the little cub still felt enough to sense the fear and disgust coursing through Ren's veins.

"Derik Vitakis left the five minutes ago. Apparently, he needed to deal with something at work. So, you don't need to worry about him for the time being,"

The worried cub continued, "Are you... really...fine?"

"I don't think I am fine, little god." 

The cub panicked. Before it could rush Ren with more questions, it was grabbed by those sinful hands once again.

"I think I fell in love."

The cub's eyes widened with disbelief. The poor system was under so much tension that it even forgot to struggle when it was lifted to Ren's face. All the worry left little god's system and evaporated into garbage codes.

"Y-You, how can you fall for Derik? Are you a masochist? A pervert?"

This time it was Ren's turn to be speechless.

"Hell no! I fell for The King Yama I saw in my dream."

The system, "...." 

The next second Ren was scratched by the angry cub.

"You deserve to stay single for your entire life. This is the third person you fell for in three days!"

Ren tilted his head in confusion. 

"Three?"

"Sister Xander, Silvia Yarx and now this King Yama..." The irritation was visible in a suppressed childish voice.

"Oh, Three times the charm! Damn I am on a roll. And it is four days not three." 

Ren was smacked by the fluffy paw, causing him to collapse onto the soft bed. However, Ren never let the still struggling cub in his arms go.

Whenever Rummi would gush about certain characters, Ren would claim to have a crush on them just to halt Rummi's chatter.

Otherwise, he would have to endure hours of stories about their greatness. Gradually, it became a habit for Ren to declare anyone above average as his crush. Of course, he never acted on these declarations.

They were fake to begin with.

Ren's eyes were filled with a smile, "Thank you, little god," 

The system could hear the rhythmic beats and the myriads of emotions including but not limited to gratitude, happiness and love.

If the system Cub was in its humanoid form, then Ren would have seen a furiously blushing face. Fortunately, the cub's black fur easily concealed its blush—or so it thought.

Ren saw the swishing fluffy tail and twitching ears, tempting Ren to touch them.

The majestic cub declared, "It's fine. Don't say something useless to annoy me, or I won't help you again. Hmph!" 

The coiling tail of the cub prompted a peal of laughter from Ren's lips. The system ignored its stupid host's teasing and urged him to eat something.

Evolution demands a tremendous amount of energy, both mental and physical. The four to five days following an evolution are considered a critical period.

Some individuals retain their powers, some lose them, and tragically, some succumb to the heavy toll on their bodies.

Ren's body was already weak to begin with, and after evolution, it is in a constant dire state He needs to carefully nurse back to health so that the evolution won't take his life like many other cases.
