Kevin rubbed his sleepy eyes as his phone buzzed on the nightstand. He picked it up and mumbled a sleepily "Hm?" into the receiver. Liam's voice came through the line, sounding much more awake. "Are you ready?"
Kevin blinked, still half-asleep. "Ready for what?" he asked, confusion creeping into his tone.
"Yesterday, you said you wanted to attend the field trip this time," Liam reminded him.
Kevin shot upright in bed, his eyes snapping to the wall clock. Panic flashed across his face as he realized the time. "Get the car ready. I'll head out in a while," he said hurriedly before ending the call. He quickly got to his feet and made his way to the mirror, running a hand through his hair.
As he stared at his reflection, he couldn't help but think about Elina. He knew she'd be lest happy to see him there, but that didn't bother him. "I know Elina will be mad at me for being there," he muttered to himself, a small smile tugging at his lips. "But I can cope with her anger." He chuckled softly as her face, scrunched up in annoyance, played in his mind. "She still looks cute when she's angry," he added before shaking his head and heading to the bathroom.
Time skip
Kevin soon joined Liam in the car, sliding into the passenger seat. As Liam started the engine, he glanced at Kevin, who was busy adjusting his shades and smoothing his hair.
"Is this sudden decision to attend the trip because of Ms. Elina?" Liam asked, his tone more casual now, as per Kevin's earlier instructions to be less formal.
Kevin nodded without hesitation, a playful smirk on his lips. "What do you think? Does this outfit work for a field trip?" he asked, still preoccupied with his appearance.
Liam nodded affirmatively, focusing on the road as the car began to move. But then, curiosity got the better of him. "Didn't she get mad at you a few days ago?"
Kevin raised an eyebrow at the question, a bit surprised. "You overheard us?" he asked, his voice neutral.
Liam gave a small nod, eyes flicking between Kevin and the road. Kevin let out a soft sigh, his playful demeanor fading slightly. "Yeah, she did get mad at me," he admitted. "She said some harsh things too."
Liam glanced at Kevin, noticing the faint, bitter smile on his face. "But you know what, Liam? None of her words hurt me..." Kevin continued, his gaze fixed ahead, lost in thought. "Maybe because... I feel like I've hurt her more. I don't deserve to be hurt by her words."
Liam nodded, understanding, but said nothing as he drove on. Kevin leaned back in his seat, his expression resolute as his thoughts turned inward.
And I won't let myself feel hurt until I can take away all her pain.

"Mr. Kevin?"
Elina called out, her voice laced with shock as she gasped, staring down at Kevin, who was lying on the ground after the punch she had just delivered. Kevin blinked, coming back to his senses as he stared up at the sky, trying to process what had just happened. Slowly, he sat upright, his gaze locking onto Elina, whose eyes were wide with disbelief.
Elina opened her mouth to say something, but before the words could leave her lips, Kevin felt a strange sensation near his nose. He reached up, touching his nose, and when he pulled his hand away, he saw a smear of blood on his fingers. His eyes widened in shock as he realized what had happened.
"Your—your nose is bleeding?" Elina stammered, surprised by her own strength even after years. She looked horrified, as if she couldn't believe she had actually managed to hurt him.
