"Oyehoye!! Mom, did you just adopt a child mentally?" A low tone and a slightly hoarse voice echoed in the dining room, Mr Kim turned his gaze from Mrs Kim and Jungkook towards the owner of the voice, meanwhile, Mrs Kim turned from the head back and saw a tall girl with dark brown shoulder length hair, standing at the threshold of the dining room, her dainty long hands resting on her tiny waist."Oh! You came Sooya," Mr Kim said with a loving dripping with adoration, The girl smiled brightly, her eyes crinkled with the stretching of her lips and she chimed in a lively bright tone, "Yes, but huff!! It was a tiring journey, I am reallyyyyy tired," The girl pouted and dramatically walked toward the Kim couple.
Mrs Kim chuckled at her dramatic daughter, she watched her taking a seat opposite hers, then, she saw her eyes getting wider as they were fixed on the petite boy with snowy skin and big doe eyes, watching her with a little puzzled face.
"Oh. My. Goodness!" Jisoo gasped, her voice bubbling with excitement as she clapped her hands together. "Mom, Dad! Who is this adorable little petal?!" She got up from her seat and rushed toward the tiny boy looking at her with flushed cheeks, she leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and adoration.
Mr. Kim chuckled softly, his tone dripping with affection. "Jungkook, meet our only daughter, Jisoo. Jisoo, this is Jungkook."
Jisoo's face lit up even more if that were possible. She reached out, lightly touching Jungkook's cheek. "Aww, your cheeks are soft just like a 'Petal', Wait- petal!! That's the perfect name for you," she cooed, her voice softening as if speaking to a delicate flower. "You're just too cute!"
Jungkook's cheeks flushed a soft pink as he stood there, unsure how to respond to the sudden attention. "N-nice to meet you, m-miss."
Jisoo giggled, clearly delighted by his shyness. "Oh gosh! you're killing me with your sweetness! I can't believe Mom and Dad have been keeping you a secret from me."
Mrs Kim smiled warmly at the interaction, her fingers still lightly stroking Jungkook's hair. "Jungkook is very special to us, chu."
Jisoo's eyes sparkled mischievously. "Special? Mom, he is very very much special?" she teased, making Mrs. Kim laugh softly.
But as the conversation continued, the topic of Jungkook's role in the household came up. Mrs. Kim hesitated for a moment before gently explaining, "Jungkook helps around the house, dear."
The light in Jisoo's eyes dimmed instantly. Her smile vanished, replaced by a look of disbelief and then anger. Her hands, which had been so gentle a moment ago, clenched into fists. "What? He's a maid? No, no, no, that's not happening at all," Jisoo's voice grew low and fierce, her entire demeanour changing from playful to possessive in an instant.
Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kim exchanged glances, their expressions dark with understanding. "Soo..." Mr. Kim began, but Jisoo cut him off.
Jungkook stood there, feeling the tension build around him. He gulped, a hard lump forming in his throat as he listened to them arguing over him. The weight of the situation pressed down on him, making it hard to breathe.
Jungkook didn't like this. He didn't like violence, even though it had become a familiar presence in his life. It wasn't the raised voices that scared him, but the idea that he was the cause of it. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he sobbed silently, trying to keep the sound from escaping his trembling lips.
Jungkook liked Jisoo. Her warmth, her liveliness—it was something he rarely experienced, and it comforted him in ways he couldn't explain. But the last thing he wanted was to be the reason for a fight between her and her parents. He was just a servant, he reminded himself. Nothing more. He didn't deserve this attention, this protection.
