It had been 3 weeks, You and your mom were having therapy sessions three times a week and this therapy session was an important one to Maya.

"So girls, what do you want to talk about today?" Lisa asked

Mays took a deep breath
"I want to talk about my childhood, I want Lucia to know" Maya expressed

"Do you want me to leave you two talk first mom? I can go to my room?" You asked

"No, no it's- it's okay." Maya expressed before taking a deep breath.
"Lane always taught me eyes forward, the only thing that mattered was the finish line. That's why all this time i've been so so hard on you and i'll carry that deep within my chest. He, he used to get so so angry. When I come in second in my track meets or If I didn't beat my time. He would make me walk 20 miles in the pouring down rain. He would take food off me, wake me up by pouring freezing cold water over my head. He, He used to throw vases and plates inches away from my head. The only way to please him was to do everything he asked, I didn't want to walk around on egg shells anymore so I did everything he asked me too. He pounded it so hard in my head that eventually I thought it was "okay" but it wasn't, and Ive been doing what he done to me to you and you didn't deserve that. I never wanted to be my him but..." Maya couldn't finish because you interrupted.

"You're nothing like him mom, you're the opposite of him okay? I don't blame you for the way I was treated. You suffered from emotional abuse mom. That's not something you can forgot so don't blame yourself for the way you treated me, you understand?" You said as you placed your hands on your mom's face, the tears wouldn't stop falling from her eyes. You pulled her in for a tight hug

"I'm so so sorry, i'm so sorry, i'm sorry" Maya repeatedly said crying in your arms

"It's okay mom, just let it all out" You replied hugging her tighter.

"I'm sorry, I- I hate him. I'm sorry Luc, i'm sorry" she continued to say.

You gave Lisa a look to say it was okay for her to go. You continued to hold your mom until she fell asleep with her head on your lap. You sat there with her, with one hand holding hers and the other playing with her hair. After 2 hours, Maya slowly woke up. "Mmm how long was I asleep?" Maya asked with a sleepy voice.

"2 hours mom" you replied "Are you feeling okay?" you added

"Yeah, i'm okay. Just exhausted" She replied as she sat up. You got up from the sofa and walked towards the kitchen.

"What do you fancy for food?" You asked

Maya walked up to the kitchen
"I'll cook, it's okay" Maya said

"No mom, you go rest on the sofa. I'll cook us something" You replied whilst handing her a bottle of ice cold water.

"Thankyou, I- I'm so lucky to have you" She said with a small smile. "And i'm lucky to have you now go, sit, rest" You replied giving her a smile.

After you had cooked food, you washed up and cleaned the kitchen. You seen your mom sat on the sofa staring into thin air. You walked over to her, sat next to her and placed your hands in hers. "Do you want to go for a walk mom? Clear you head? I can come with you?" You asked looking at her. "Yeah, that uh... that would be nice" she replied with a smile on her face. You and your mom headed out and started walking, you walked for quite a while. You were two blocks away from the station when you turned to your mom.
