Chapter 4

This went on for a while. I mean the whole Caleb coming over before Brendan, me being confused about my feelings, hating life, not knowing what to do, sneaking around, etc. Actually it went on until Winter break. While all of this was going on, Dalton and I had become best friends again (next to Robin, of course).

It was the first day of Winter break and I had just finished cleaning my room. I was sitting on my bed on my laptop when Caleb walked in. He sat down next to me. "So would you like to know what you're getting for Christmas?" He smiled at me and I figured I would play along.

"Wait? It's almost Christmas? I thought it was July?" I winked at him and he laughed.

Caleb handed me an envelop with my name printed on it in a beautiful script. "Open it," he said.

"Did you write this?"

"No. My mom did, but will you please just open it?" I pulled out a photo of a gorgeous mountain cabin and stared at it for a few seconds.

"Caleb... What's this?" I asked kind of confused.

""That is where you, me, Robin, and Nate will be staying over break." He smiled.

"No. Quit lying."

"I'm not lying Charlie. Your parents already agreed and we leave tomorrow morning, but don't worry we'll be back by noon on Christmas Eve. I know how you said you wanted to run away and now we can. Well at least temporarily." He smiled at me and I couldn't help but jump on him. We ended up falling off the bed. Caleb helped me up and we both laughed. "Are you okay?" he asked. I looked at him coldly, but then I smiled.

"Shut up and kiss me already." But before he could kiss me, I kissed him.

I ran around my room and Caleb chased me. Of course he's faster than me so it wasn't very hard for him to catch hold of my waist really quickly. I turned around. "I love you," I said.

"I love you too Charlie." He kissed my forehead and said, "I have to go honey, but I'll be here tomorrow morning at eight."

"I can't wait," I called as he left. Just then Brendan called me and I had to think about what I was going to tell him as to why I wouldn't be home all break. I had an idea and answered the phone.

"Hey babe; I was thinking that we could grab coffee around two tomorrow," he said.

"Oh. I'm sorry. For Christmas this year I'm taking Robin up to the mountains until Christmas Eve, but we can either reschedule at the same time on Christmas Eve or have lunch on Christmas." I felt bad for lying, but it's not like he hadn't done the exact same thing to me multiple times before.

"Okay. Christmas lunch. My place at noon." I could tell that he was upset, but it seemed like our make up plan excited him.

"Okay. That sounds good, but are you sure that you're parents won't mind?" I asked.

"No. They'll be gone all afternoon and a few days after that. They're going on a cruise."

"Okay. Sounds like a date. I can't wait, but I have to go pack for tomorrow."

"Bye Charlie. I love you," Brendan said..

I didn't know what to say so I hung up. I had four missed calls from Robin. Oh how I love that child. I called  her back. "Hey. Sorry. I was talking to Brendan."

"Whatever. Nate just came by and guess what he got me or Christmas!" Robin was obviously excited, but then again, who wouldn't be?

"Hmm. Would it happen to be a week and a half in a mountain cabin with your best friend and your best friend's boyfriend?" I could barely keep from laughing.
