"What happened? Where's she?" Harry asked without wasting a breath. His heart in anticipation to see her.

Professor McGonagall lead him to the place where the dragons were, around the edge of the forest.

But when they approached the clump of trees, behind which the enclosure would be clearly visible, Harry saw that a tent had been erected, its entrance facing them, screening the dragons from view.

"You're to go in here with the other champions," said Professor McGonagall, in a rather shaky sort of voice, "and wait for your turn, Potter. Mr. Bagman will be there shortly. . . he'll be telling you the — the procedure. . . Good luck and go talk to her."

"Thanks," said Harry, in a flat, distant voice. She left him at the entrance of the tent. Harry went inside.

Fleur and Krum were not present yet, only Cedric. Professor McGonagall brought them early, to talk to Crystal as she was worried for her.

Cedric was trying to talk to Crystal, who sat on a wooden stool in the corner, staring blankly at her fists resting on her thighs. When Harry entered, Cedric gave him a small smile, which Harry returned, feeling the muscles in his face working rather hard, as though they had forgotten how to do it.

As Harry approached, Cedric stood up, made eye contact, then subtly gestured toward Crystal with a flick of his eyes before mouthing, "Not talking."

Harry nodded in understanding. He shrugged off his coat, leaving himself in just his school shirt, and took Cedric's place as Cedric quietly walked away.

"Crystal." Harry began gently after a few seconds, studying her face. Her expression was unusually sullen, her eyes fixed on her hands. "Are you nervous?"

No response. She didn't even look up at him.

"Hey, talk to me, please?" he tried again softly, placing his hand over hers. Crystal flinched, pulling her hand back as if burned. Her eyes finally met his, wide with an expression of horror.

Harry was taken aback by the strange reaction. Crystal only acted like this when panic was building up inside her-dangerously so.

"Are you feeling uneasy?" Harry asked carefully, "Did you take your—" He glanced briefly at Cedric, who was now pacing back and forth some distance away, and then lowered his voice. "—your meds today? The ones you take when you don't feel rightdid you take them?"
