How do we forget people that once holds a special place in your life?
Does time heal everything?
Time passes by but the pain still lingers.
How we get them is how they leave.
It was just a casual Friday when we met. It was a random Thursday when she left.
"Jamie." She called her.
Jaime's gaze flicked up to meet Kaye's, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and anger. There was a hint of betrayal in her expression, her lips pressed tightly together, holding back the things she's been wanting to say and a flood of emotions clouded behind her eyes.
"I'm sorry." Kaye said, her voice cracking slightly.
Jaime stopped on her tracks.
Although Kaye was clearly annoyed and hurt, her anger slowly gave way to a hint of desperation. She clenched her fists tightly, her body still tense with frustration, but her voice was filled with pleading as she spoke.
"Huwag ka na umalis. Dito ka na lang."
Humarap si Jaime sa kaniya. Kaye was not used to bring herself in a situation like this. She hates looking desperate but she will hate herself more if this did not end up well.
"Ikaw lang kasama ko ngayon. I can't afford to lose a friend, okay?"
Jaime's face is a portrait of anguish and desperation. Her eyes are wide, tears brimming at the edges, threatening to spill over at any moment.
Jaime's jaw clenched. Her nostrils flaring slightly as her emotions boiled over. She took a single step not to take Kaye's trembling hands anymore... but to push Kaye away. The suddenness causing Kaye to stagger back a few steps.
Jaime looked at Kaye, full of anger and hurt. There is something wrong with her eyes... as if she finally knows what to do and she's going to do it.
"Tangina. Ako na nga lang nandito para sa'yo. Ikaw pa ang gumawa ng rason para layuan ka mismo."
Her voice was firm and unforgiving.
"I'm willing to change! Tangina, sabihin mo lang kung anong ayaw mo, babaguhin ko!" Kaye lashed out.
"Nagagalit ka na ba sa'kin kasi hindi ako marunong magluto? Then, I'll learn to cook for myself! I won't ask for your help anymore!"
Kaye's emotions are a tangled web of hurt, anger, and desperation. There's a hint of pleading in her voice, a plea for understanding – a silent scream not to throw away the friendship. Na kahit man naiinis at nalulungkot, na kahit man ang mata ay pulang pula sa luha, there's a fire burning within her that shows the determination to hold on to what they have.
"I won't get mad if you cancel plans anymore."
"Nagagalit ka ba every time kinakausap natin si April? Fine! I won't bring her up to you anymore!"
"Nagagalit ka ba sa'kin kas hindi ako marunong tumawid ng kalsada?"
"Hindi na ako kakabit sayo everytime tatawid tayo ng kalsada. I'll try to teach myself how."
"I won't mind kung asarin mo ako palagi. Hahayaan na lang kita."
"I'm willing na intindihin ka nang maiigi kahit hindi ka na nag o-open up sa'kin."
Despite Kaye's plead, Jamie stood on her ground, her head shaking back and forth.
The action spoke louder than her words – despite her best efforts to salvage their friendship, a part of her had resigned to the fact that things would never be the same again.
