Oneshot: A Starry Birthday
┌── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──┐
The Yotsurugi Estate , a grand and imposing structure, bore the evidence of the night's revelry.Moonlight filtered softly through the tall windows, casting a muted glow over the remnants of Hibaru Yotsurugi's birthday celebration. The once elegant dining room now lay in gentle disarray—streamers hung haphazardly, empty glasses scattered about, and plates of half-eaten food marked the end of the festivities.
In the living room, Terasu was sprawled on the couch, his long limbs akimbo, snoring softly with an empty cup still clasped in his hand. Nearby, Torazo had collapsed onto the dining table, clearly inebriated. His head rested on his arms, a plate of food tipped precariously next to him. Kuran, ever the enigmatic figure, had curled up in an armchair, his luxurious tail wrapped tightly around him. Kou had sought out the warmth and comfort of his brother's tail, now nestled against it and fast asleep.
Amidst this scene of peaceful slumber and subtle chaos, you, the ever-observant companion, moved through the quiet house.
You had just waved off to the Fudo brothers and Kinpa as Shunichiro dragged off his half asleep brother Kanjiro with Kinpa holding him up on the other side, with a slight bow and thanking for the lively party that had worn his twin out.
"Have a goodnight Y/n...or atleast try to" Kinpa said as she and the Fudo brothers exited.
"Haha, I will" You smiled.
Once you close the door your gaze fell upon Hibaru, who had fallen asleep at the dining table, a smear of birthday cake frosting decorating his cheek. Despite the mess, there was something endearing about the sight of him, looking so content and peaceful amidst the remnants of the night's festivities.
You approached Hibaru with gentle footsteps, careful not to disturb the sleeping giants around you. Kneeling beside him, you softly shook his shoulder, rousing him from his cake-smeared slumber. His eyes fluttered open, revealing a sleepy confusion that melted into a smile when he saw you."Hibaru," you said softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from his face. "How about we get some fresh air?"
Hibaru yawned and stretched, wiping the frosting from his cheek with a sleepy grin. "Good idea," he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. "I could use some fresh air."You helped him to his feet, careful not to wake the others, and guided him to the back door of the mansion. The night air was cool and refreshing, a welcome change from the stuffy indoor atmosphere. With a glance at Hibaru, you could see the weariness in his eyes mixed with a spark of curiosity about your plans.
"Where are we going?" he asked, his voice still heavy with sleep. You didn't answer immediately. Instead, you led him to the backyard, where you paused beneath the towering oak tree that stood sentinel over the property. "I thought we'd do something a little different," you said with a mischievous smile.
"How about a little stargazing?"Hibaru's eyes widened in pleasant surprise. With a gentle gesture you lead Hibaru to the back where you both helped each other arm in arm holding onto each other and pulling up one another till you were on the rooftop- a place not typically visited but perfect for a secluded moment under the stars.
The late night sky was clear and tranquil, the first hints of stars beginning to appear as the sun had already set on the horizon. You and Hibaru made your way to the edge of the roof, where you could see the sprawling city below, still fast asleep from the night's activities.
You spread out a blanket that you had brought along, and Hibaru settled down beside you, his gaze fixed on the sky. The stars were beginning to shine more brightly, their twinkling light creating a serene canopy above you.
"This is amazing," Hibaru said, his voice filled with awe. "I never would have thought to come up here for a quiet moment."
"I thought it might be the perfect way to end the celebration," you replied, your eyes scanning the sky for constellations.
"A way to just enjoy some peace and quiet after all the excitement."
Hibaru leaned back against the blanket, his eyes following the shifting patterns of stars. "It's really beautiful up here. I'm glad you suggested this."
You both lay there for a while in comfortable silence, the gentle breeze rustling around you. Occasionally, You would point out a constellation or a particularly bright star, your enthusiasm evident. Hibaru listened intently, appreciating the way you shared your knowledge and excitement with him.
"You know...I heard Shio name some of these constellations when using his Astro.." You mentioned.
"Shio..." Hibaru looked off to the side thinking deeply.
You noticed this and placed a hand over his giving it a comforting squeeze. "Hey, it's just like you said it's just a fight between siblings I'm sure everything will turn out just fine" You reassured him.
Hibaru smiled fondly at you in response as the moonlight casted a subtle glow on your skin illuminating it.
As the night deepened and the stars became more vivid, Hibaru turned his head to look at you. "Thank you for this. It's been a wonderful birthday, and this moment makes it even better." You smiled, gently squeezing his hand.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. You deserve all the happiness and more."
Hibaru's gaze softened, and for a moment, he simply looked at you with an expression of contentment and appreciation. "I'm really lucky to have you by my side," he said quietly. You returned his gaze with a tender smile, the warmth of his words making the moment even more special. The night continued to unfold around you, the stars above and the city lights below creating a beautiful tapestry of light and shadow.
Eventually, you both sat up and took in the view one last time before returning to the mansion. As you descended from the roof, the peaceful atmosphere of the night remained with you, a gentle reminder of the simple joys and the deep connection you shared.
Back inside, the house was still in its post-party state, but the sight of the sleeping family members brought a sense of fondness and familiarity. Terasu, Torazo, Kuran, and Kou remained undisturbed, each wrapped in their own dreams.
You and Hibaru made your way back to his room, where you both settled into a more restful sleep, the memories of the stargazing still fresh in your minds. The birthday celebration had been a success, but it was the quiet, intimate moments that had made it truly special.
"I have one more gift for you" You spoke softly as you were laying next to Hibaru on his arm.
"Oh? What is i-"
mwah
Hibaru fell silent when you pecked his lips with a subtle kiss. Even if it was jsut for a moment the feeling of your soft lips on his was enough to quiet him.
After comprehending what had just happened Hibaru let's out chuckle as he kisses your temple in return. No words needing to be said amongst the comfort of silence.
As you drifted off to sleep, you felt a deep sense of satisfaction and contentment, knowing that you had made Hibaru's birthday one to remember, with a touch of magic that would linger long after the night had ended.
