A vow is a sacred promise or commitment made publicly with the approval of the Church. Through her vows, a Nun responds with her whole life to God's invitation to love Him completely and without reserve. This free response is a fuller expression of her baptismal call and is, for one who is genuinely called to the consecrated life, a means to greater holiness.

Yet some vows are rash, regrettable, or unrealizable; some are made under duress. We have the choice to keep or annul our vows, thus affirming our most basic rights to self-expression and self-determination. This is part of what gives both the prayer and its recitation its profound power.

On the other hand, we find ourselves within a web of relationships where we often give up what we had promised to ourselves, or we redirect our ability.

These vows provide for purification of heart and spiritual freedom that uniquely marks the life of the consecrated woman religiously. Living these vows enables her to focus her entire being on God and His people.

It also describes the circumstances under which a woman's vow may be negated.

Vows are worthless now for Nuns and they are bonded in them only for ostentatiousness and in compulsion.

There are many reasons for this compulsion of remaining in vows like, their families are not ready to accept them or they are afraid of worldly criticism or they want to remain holy for boasting of their holiness, or because of the financial crisis in their family background.

In the viewpoint of the common people, their vows cannot break even after their death, while in reality, they become graves for them.

Vows are the foundation stone in a Nun's life or religious life which are now used for the adoption of the name of a Nun or a religious. Vows are taken to live a Holy life but seem now vows are taken to be free to do anything or to be an authorized person who is allowed to do good or bad.

They are said that they can do anything after becoming a Nun (negatively).
