Joslin and Eliza are ecstatic to get jobs on the school newspaper, The Barracudian, as the fashion writer and front page photographers, respectively. However, they arrive late to the meeting, and as a result Seniorita Rodriguez gives Joslin the job of the sports reporter instead, with the fashion writer job going to Debbie, and Eliza gets the job as the junior photographer. In an effort to lift Joslin spirits, Eilish tells her that it will still be fun and asks Debbie if she agrees. Debbie says that it's not about fun, but rather about "reporting the news and exposing the truth", and adds a threat for the two not to get anything on the wrong page of the paper, as only her articles belong there. Joslin then has a vision of someone crashing into the school and tells Eliza that they are about to land on the front page, instead of Debbie.

In the next scene, Daphne is getting hyped up over a basketball game. Raven bounces in and begins taking notes on the game, but unfortunately for her, Fred interrupts and tricks her into standing up so that he can sit on the couch. Joslin protests, making Daphne wonder why she's so eager to watch the game. Joslin talks about how she has become a series sports journalist, but the colors of the attire of the Romans distract her. Joslin is then requested to leave the room.

Joslin is mad that she can't go to the concert, until she has a vision of Shaggy scoring the winning basket. Joslin realizes she can write up the page in advance and go to the concert, and goes off to tell Eilish, but Debbie overhears the conversation and threatens to expose Joslin's secret. Meanwhile, Daphne and Velma, unknowingly to Fred, spruce up his science project, which they had disapproved of. During the time-out, Daphne and Velma nag Fred on his unfinished science project.

The next day after school, Joslin and Eliza are preparing to take notes and pictures of the break-in Joslin predicted. They put Shaggy on guard, but he is seen by Debbie, who interviews him. Shaggy fools Debbie into thinking that there's something wrong with the roof and that she runs off, pleased by this new information. The break-in occurs, with a clown entering the building. Apparently, he was supposed to be at a six-year-old's birthday party. Shaggy and Eliza, ecstatic that Joslin's vision came true, reveal her secret and identity to the clown, who is unimpressed and only cares about the fact that they didn't open the window for him.

The next day, Joslin and Eliza's article on the event, "Send In the Clown," is a front page story, much to Debbie's discontent. Debbie asks them how they knew that the clown would crash through the window, but Joslin just disses her in reply. Senorita Rodriguez gives the two girls tickets to a Justin Timberlake concert and asks them to cover the event, but a revenge-seeking Debbie mentions that there is a basketball game that night and Joslin, as the sports reporter, should attend. Senorita Rodriguez tells Eliza she will have to attend a concert alone as Joslin must cover the game.

A distraught Joslin, accompanied by Eliza, complains about the sport during basketball practice when Rikochet, a nerdy player on the team, nearly hits Joslin with the ball. Shaggy comes over to apologize and is told by Coach that he will be starting for the first time. Joslin has a vision that Shaggy will shoot the last basket of the game, winning for his team. Joslin tells Eliza about her vision, saying that she can write the article earlier and attend the Justin Timberlake concert, making a comment about how much she loves being psychic. Unfortunately, Debbie overhears the conversation and plots to use the information against her.

Later on, Debbie confronts Joslin on her psychic powers, printing out Joslin's article on Shaggy scoring the final basket in the game, called "Shaggy Wins for Fins", which Joslin had already written on the school's computer. She then shows Joslin her own report on Joslin's psychic powers, entitled "Psychic Freak Walks Among Us" and telling Joslin that if the games goes as she predicted, the whole school will know her secret.

As Joslin helps her best friend prepare for the concert, Eliza tells her that maybe it's time everyone knew her secret. Eliza asks her what the big deal is about everyone knowing about her psychic powers, to which Joslin replies that she just wants to be like everybody else, and if Shaggy shoots the winning basket, her dreams of being looked upon as an ordinary girl will be crushed. Eliza tells her that she will miss the concert in order to be there for Joslin.

Meanwhile, Fred is obviously struggling with his assignment, as his solar system is made up of food, but Daphne will not let Velma help him, telling her husband that Fred must either sink or swim on his own. That night, however, Velma catches Daphne doing Fred's project for him. Daphne realizes that Velma snuck downstairs to do exactly the same thing. The two discuss their fear of Fred failing in academics. They begin working on Fred's project together, much to his content — Fred had been watching their exchange, knowing that they were going to help him.

During the game, Shaggy misses another shot and calls a time-out, unaware that his final hoop will ruin Joslin's reputation. Debbie arrives at the scene, smugly telling Joslin how much she can't wait for the final buzzer. Joslin attempts to stop the team from passing the ball to Shaggy but is shooed away by him. Eliza arrives at the game due to the Justin Timberlake concert being canceled. Shaggy then scores and confidently tells Joslin that he's "feeling it." Debbie mocks Joslin again, and Eliza steals the ball, which subsequently gets both her and Joslin chicked out of the game.

Originally upset due to her failed efforts, Joslin hatches a plan to enter the court again as the mascot, The Roman, during which she interrupts the game and reveals her identity to Shaggy. Shaggy calls for a time-out, and the cheerleaders take control of the stage. Joslin, disguised as The Roman, is forced to dunk a basket by jumping from a trampoline but lands upside-down inside the hoop instead. Shaggy then arrives to confront Joslin, who confesses that he will shoot the winning basket, but also how it will tarnish her reputation. Although Shaggy feels bad, he marvels as how it's the winning shot. Joslin, though clearly upset, tells Shaggy to take the winning shot, much to his excitement.

The time-out is over, and the game is back in session. Shaggy is given the ball by a fellow player and runs and dribbles through the other players, with Joslin quietly cheering him on despite her personal feelings on the matter. Before taking the winning shot, Shaggy rethinks things for a moment and then passes the ball to Rikochet, much to the horror of Coach and the astonishment of Raven. In a stroke of luck, Rikochet manages to score on the buzzer, stunning everyone and horrifying Debbie. Joslin is touched to learn that Shaggy was willing to sacrifice for her. Debbie walks up, angry that Joslin "tricked" her, but believes that there is a real story behind it, which she is fully set on discovering.

Daphne and Velma are sitting on the couch when Fred arrives and declares that he got an A on his science assignment.

Originally happy for him, Velma and Daphne's pleasure turns to shock and slight anger when they realize the assignment was actually a report. Fred reveals that the project on the solar system was just a fake; the actual project was for the class to come up with a theory and then prove it. Fred called his report the "Theory of Relativity," in which he states that relatives always look out for each other (Fred's parents helping him with an imaginary report that he was clearly failing). Velma feels used, but Daphne is proud of her friend. The doorbell then rings, and Daphne goes over to answer it. Joslin warns her not to answer if it's a fish, but Daphne laughs this off. However, Joslin's suspicions are proven to be true when The Roman is seen outside. The group screams in horror and panic as Daphne shuts the door again.
