after her performance at patti labelle's tribute, fantasia disappeared. things for her behind closed doors became tough and too much to handle. she left all of her belongings at the hotel, even her phone, so there was no way to contact her. the only thing they have is footage of her leaving the hotel in an Uber, but that was it. nobody truly knows what was going on with her because she always seemed to keep everything to herself.

taraji, on the other hand, started to become an addict. she popped pills and chugged liquor each time she could so she could forget about the fact that her pregnant girlfriend had disappeared into thin air without saying a word to her. it hurt her more than anything that her girlfriend left without giving her the chance to experience the journey with her and the child they were expecting. she would only sober up when it was time for her to see her son. after she received the news, she went manic on everybody around her. after 1 year of no contact from fantasia, she started seeing a therapist to better herself for taylor and herself, of course. she didn't wanna be one of those parents that she had when she was growing up. she's been improving the past few weeks. she hasn't had any liquor or pills in almost a year, so that was her making progress and proof that therapy actually working.

she and her family, along with gabby and her son, moved to houston for good. she figured it was nothing left in boston for her considering the fact that she tied up all of her loose ends (well, she thought.) she just wanted what was best mostly for her son and parents. gabby found herself and a house and moved to houston like she said she would. taraji currently lives by herself, but she has a little situation that goes over every once in a while. she bought a house for her parents. her grandfather, who's also karens ex-husband, left his company to her, so she's been taking over that for 2 years now. her grandmother passed away from cancer 4 months ago, so that took a toll on her as well and still is. she hasn't fully healed, but she's making a whole lot of progress.

monica also works at the company. taraji never forgave her for what she did to her brother when it came to their child, but she wasn't going to hold that over her head forever. also, monica was bringing in a lot. she may have made stupid decisions in the past, but she had the brains like no other, and taraji adored that. she was the youngest to ever own a company and also the youngest to have over 90 investments in less than a year. the people adored her. she went there completely clueless now she's in tune with everything and everyone around her. wealthy at 22, 1 healthy child with both parents involved, loving parents. life was good for the most part. in the back of her mind, she still had faith that fantasia would bring her child back even after 2 years, she still wanted to meet her kid.

me, taylor, and mariah were headed to my parents' house for dinner. this was a thing every sunday for us. after my parents left church, the first thing my mama would do was get in that kitchen.

"riah, would you wanna go to church with grandma and grandpa?"

"ew no."

"why you say it like that?" i laughed

"because all they do is yell and fall to the floor, and not to mention they're always shaking like they're possessed or something. it's weird."

"that's what they call the holy ghost."

"im scared of ghosts, so i'll just pass. can we go to the aquarium tomorrow?"

"you have school, but we can go that weekend. how bout that?"

"okay!"

"mama juice." taylor held his cup up.

"ill get i-"
