Kavya's heart was still racing as she left the ballroom, the taste of Madhav's lips lingering on hers. Every step she took away from him felt like a betrayal of everything they had shared in their past lives, but she knew she had no choice. She had pushed too hard, too fast. He wasn't ready to remember.

The night air was cool against her flushed skin as she stepped out onto the terrace, hoping to find a moment of peace to collect her thoughts. But before she could take a breath, she heard the sharp click of footsteps behind her. She turned, and there he was-Madhav, his face a mask of barely contained anger.

"Kavya," he said, his voice clipped and cold. "We need to talk."

She nodded, bracing herself for what was to come. "I'm sorry, Madhav. I didn't mean to-"

"Save it," he interrupted, his tone harsh. "I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but it needs to stop. Now."

Kavya winced at the venom in his voice, but she stood her ground. "It's not a game, Madhav. I'm not trying to mess with your head. I just... I thought you might remember something. Anything."

He let out a bitter laugh. "Remember what, exactly? Some fantasy you've conjured up? You kissed me, Kavya. In front of everyone. Do you have any idea what kind of position that puts me in? What people will think?"

"I don't care what people think!" she shot back, her own frustration bubbling to the surface. "I care about you, Madhav. About us. You might not remember, but I do."

"Us?" he repeated, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "There is no 'us,' Kavya. We barely know each other. And whatever it is you think we had-whatever you think you're entitled to-it's not real."

His words cut deep, each one like a dagger to her heart. But she refused to let him see how much it hurt. "You're wrong," she said quietly, her voice steady despite the tears welling up in her eyes. "You don't remember now, but you will. I know you will."

Madhav shook his head, his expression one of disbelief. "You really are delusional, aren't you? I don't know what kind of fantasy you're living in, but it's not mine. And I'm done entertaining it."

He turned to leave, but then paused, looking back at her with a mixture of anger and something else-something darker, more complex. "Stay away from me, Kavya. I mean it. Whatever this is... it ends now."

With that, he walked away, leaving her alone on the terrace, the sound of his footsteps echoing in her ears. Kavya watched him go, her heart breaking all over again. She had known this would be difficult, but she hadn't expected it to hurt this much.

She leaned against the railing, taking deep breaths to steady herself. She had come too far to give up now. No matter how much Madhav pushed her away, no matter how cruel his words, she couldn't abandon him. She wouldn't. Not when she knew that somewhere, deep down, he was still the man she had loved for lifetimes.

As the wind whispered through the trees, Kavya made a silent vow to herself. She would make Madhav remember. She would break through the barriers of time, of fate, of whatever force was keeping them apart. And when she did, he would know the truth: that their love was real, and it was worth fighting for.

Even if it meant enduring the bitter edge of his forgotten love.
