☀️ Sunoo's POV
The classroom buzzed with chatter, a lively contrast to the usual monotony of lessons. I could hear the sounds of students catching up with their friends, discussing weekend plans, and the general hum of youthful energy. Just as I was adjusting to the light-hearted atmosphere, our class monitor burst into the room with a bright smile.
"I heard that our Math teacher's absent! We can use her time to rest!" she announced, her voice bubbling with excitement. A cheer erupted from almost every student, filling the room with an infectious enthusiasm.
I had found a seat at Jungwon’s desk, who was too absorbed in his own conversation to notice. I picked up his phone, absentmindedly scrolling through apps while the class continued to celebrate their unexpected free time. My gaze wandered around, taking in the playful scene.
Then, a ball whizzed through the air, and I heard a shout, "Hey, catch!" I looked up to see a group of classmates tossing the ball around. The ball ended up hurtling towards Heeseung, who was slouched over his desk, headphones on, seemingly lost in his own world. He looked so peaceful, his posture relaxed as he rested his head on his arms.
"Hey, look, the monster's taking a nap," one of my classmates sneered. I frowned, wondering if they were talking about Heeseung. The tone was mocking, and I could see the way they were taking amusement in their little joke.
Before I could react, the ball was thrown deliberately at Heeseung’s head. It hit his headphones with a muffled thud. My heart sank. I knew that must have hurt, even if it was just a minor jolt. Heeseung stirred slightly but didn't immediately wake up.
"Hey!" I called out, a mixture of frustration and concern in my voice. I saw Heeseung slowly adjust his position, the irritation evident even though he didn’t say anything.
"Hey, monster!" The same classmate taunted, making everyone laugh. Heeseung’s face was unreadable, but the tension was palpable. His glare was cold, intense, and unmistakable.
One of the classmate’s friends, egged on by the crowd, continued to provoke Heeseung. “What the fuck are you looking at?” he said, clearly enjoying the stir he was causing. Heeseung pulled his headphones down to his neck, his eyes flashing with a mix of anger and exhaustion.
I felt a knot form in my stomach as Heeseung sighed, a sound that seemed to carry all the frustration he was trying to contain. “You need a grip,” I said, standing up and moving toward the group.
“Come on now, Sunoo, it’s just a game, we’re playing,” one of them said dismissively, pushing me back towards my seat. I felt a pang of helplessness as Jungwon stood up, his face a mask of concern.
“This jerk, just stop and mind your own business!” Jungwon said, his voice sharp. His eyes were on the classmate who had started the trouble, but it didn’t stop him from tossing another ball at Heeseung’s head.
Heeseung remained still for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, the situation escalated quickly.
The classmate, now egged on by his friends, stood up properly to Heeseung and threw a punch.
I watched in horror as Heeseung’s calm demeanor shattered. He moved with a sudden, fluid motion, grabbing a pen from his pencil case. My breath hitched as Heeseung stabbed the pen into the classmate’s shoulder, the sharpness of the act cutting through the room's laughter and cheers.
No No No No.
The classmate yelped, stumbling back. I covered my mouth with my palm, my heart racing. The classroom fell into stunned silence. My mind was a whirlwind of panic and disbelief. I glanced around, seeing the shocked faces of my classmates, some whispering among themselves, others frozen in place.
