The second innings began with Perry taking charge of the team with calm efficiency. Without Smriti on the field, Perry had to step up and lead with precision. RCB were in full control of the match. Sophie had already claimed three wickets during the powerplay, and by the end of the ninth over, Gujarat was reeling at six wickets down. Shruti Rana walked to the crease, her earlier taunts still fresh in Perry’s mind.

Seeing Shruti walk in, Perry’s expression hardened. She decided to take the ball herself, her anger simmering beneath the surface. As Shruti approached the crease, she flashed a vicious smile. “Oh look, chick couldn’t do something on her own, so her lover is here to do something. She isn't made for love Ms. Perry trust me, she won’t fall in love with you. She’ll just use you and throw you away.”

Perry’s eyes blazed with fury. She took a deep breath and replied through clenched teeth, “Shut up and focus on your drowning career, Bitch. Just like your team is drowning here.”

The first ball Perry delivered was a fiery bouncer that struck Shruti on the helmet. Shruti staggered back, and Perry gave her a cold stare before walking back to her run-up. The crowd roared, sensing the intensity of the moment. Perry prepared for the next delivery with a steely determination.

The next ball was an absolute peach—perfectly pitched, with just the right amount of swing and seam movement. It soared past Shruti’s defensive shot and clattered into her stumps. Shruti’s middle stump was uprooted, sending the bails flying. Perry gave Shruti the same aggressive send-off Shruti had given Smriti earlier, her expression one of unrestrained triumph.

The match ended with RCB’s victory, and celebrations erupted around the ground. Perry’s focus, however, remained fixed on Smriti. She scanned the field and found her friend, who was sitting pale and visibly shaken. Perry approached her immediately, concern etched on her face.

"What was she saying to you Pez, why were you talking to her, I told you she is very dangerous Pez..." Smriti says to Perry with fear and tears in her eyes, Perry held her in a tight hug providing comfort to her. Luckily everyone was on the other side of the dressing rooms so no one could see this emotional breakdown.

“Smrits, you need to eat something,” Perry said gently, helping Smriti to a seat. She brought over a plate of food and began to coax her friend into eating. Sophie watched from a distance, her eyes softening at the sight of Perry’s tender care for Smriti.

From Sophie’s perspective, it was heartwarming to see how Perry and Smriti interacted. As Perry fed Smriti from the same plate, their closeness was evident. They shared smiles and small conversations, their bond palpable. Sophie couldn’t help but notice how the two looked together—like they were in their own little world, unaffected by the chaos around them. It was a picture of genuine affection and support.

The team bus ride back to the hotel was filled with the buzz of victory. Perry and Sophie usually sat together, but today, Perry held her ground and pulled Smriti to sit next to her. The bus ride was a whirlwind of excitement and congratulations, but Perry’s attention remained solely on Smriti. She kept a firm grip on Smriti’s hand, ensuring that she was by her side throughout the journey.

As the bus arrived at the hotel, the team disembarked in high spirits, but Perry’s focus was solely on Smriti. Perry says to Smriti"You are coming with me Smrits, to my room." Smriti tried to protest, saying, “No, Pez, this isn’t right. I’ll just go to my room now.”

Perry turned to Smriti with a serious expression. Her eyes were intense, a side of her that Smriti hadn’t seen before. “I’m not asking you, Smriti. I’m telling you.”

Smriti’s eyes widened in surprise at the firmness in Perry’s voice. She was taken aback by this new, commanding side of her friend. Her protests faltered, and she could only nod in compliance.
