As evening approached, the atmosphere in the hospital shifted from anxiety to anticipation. Perry sat beside Smriti’s bed, holding her hand tightly, the weight of the past few days lifting with each passing moment. Smriti was finally being discharged, and Perry had planned a surprise celebration to welcome her back home.
While they chatted about everything and nothing, Perry’s mind buzzed with excitement. She had arranged for the management company to help her prepare a special dinner at her house, complete with decorations and food that Smriti loved. She could hardly wait for the look on Smriti’s face when she arrived.
When the clock struck six, Perry felt her heart race with anticipation. She rose from the chair, taking a deep breath. “Ready to go?” she asked, her voice brimming with enthusiasm.
Smriti, sitting up in her hospital bed, smiled weakly but brightly. “More than ready,” she replied, her eyes reflecting the hope that had been rekindled.
As they made their way to the entrance, Perry wrapped her arm around Smriti’s shoulders, feeling a rush of protectiveness. Each step away from the sterile hallways felt like a step toward a brighter future.
When they finally arrived at Perry’s home, Perry paused at the front door, her excitement bubbling over. “Okay, close your eyes,” she instructed playfully.
Smriti laughed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “What are you up to?”
“Just trust me!” Perry insisted, gently guiding her inside. Once the door creaked open, Perry stepped back, allowing Smriti to enter first.
“Open!” Perry urged.
Smriti’s eyes fluttered open, and her breath caught in her throat as she took in the scene before her. The living room was transformed—a beautiful dining setup adorned with flickering candles, a feast laid out on the table, and fairy lights twinkling overhead. The aroma of her favorite dishes wafted through the air, wrapping around her like a warm hug.
“Oh my god, Pezzy!” Smriti exclaimed, her hands flying to her mouth in disbelief. “This is incredible!”
Without a moment's hesitation, Smriti rushed to Perry and enveloped her in a tight embrace. “You did all this for me?”
“Of course! You deserve to be celebrated,” Perry replied, holding Smriti close, feeling her heart swell with love.
As they pulled away, Smriti’s eyes sparkled with gratitude. “You mean everything to me, Pez.”
Perry leaned in, capturing Smriti’s lips in a gentle kiss, their connection deepening in that intimate moment. “I love you, Smriti. You mean the world to me.”
“I love you too, Pez. I can’t imagine my life without you,” Smriti whispered back, her voice laced with emotion.
When they finally broke apart, Perry’s excitement bubbled over again. “Oh! I have something for you!” She pointed to a beautifully wrapped package sitting on the table.
“What’s this?” Smriti asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Just open it,” Perry urged, a bright smile on her face.
Smriti carefully unwrapped the package, revealing a stunning dress—a deep emerald green that shimmered under the lights. “Oh my god, it’s lovely!” she gasped, her eyes wide with admiration. “Pez, this is beautiful!”
“Please wear it tonight,” Perry requested, her eyes pleading.
“Of course! I’d love to!” Smriti beamed, her excitement infectious.
As they got ready, Perry couldn’t help but steal glances at Smriti, who transformed into a vision of beauty in the elegant dress. With her hair cascading down her shoulders and her cheeks flushed with happiness, Smriti looked radiant.
