As the celebration continued around them, Perry and Smriti stood wrapped in each other’s arms, the world outside fading into the background. The joy radiating from their friends and family was palpable, but in that moment, all that mattered was the love they felt for one another.
Perry’s heart swelled as she watched Smriti, her eyes sparkling with happiness, her laughter ringing like music. They shared a brief glance, and an unspoken understanding passed between them: this was just the beginning.
As the festivities began to wind down, guests took turns congratulating the newly engaged couple. Harman, grinning widely, pulled Smriti into a bear hug. “I can’t believe you’re getting married! This is so amazing!” she exclaimed, her excitement contagious.
“Thank you! I’m still in shock,” Smriti replied, her cheeks flushed.
Sophie joined in, wrapping her arms around both women. “You two are perfect for each other. This is the best news ever!” She beamed, her joy evident.
The night wore on, filled with laughter, stories, and shared memories. Perry looked around, feeling grateful for the love that enveloped them. As the last of the guests began to leave, Perry’s father approached, a proud smile on his face.
“Perry, you did a wonderful job tonight. It was truly a celebration of love,” he said, pulling her into a gentle embrace.
“Thanks, Dad. I just wanted Smriti to feel special,” Perry replied, her voice thick with emotion.
He nodded, his expression softening. “You both deserve all the happiness in the world.”
Once the last guest had departed, Perry and Smriti found themselves alone in the warm glow of the fairy lights. The remnants of the celebration—half-empty plates, scattered confetti, and the faint sound of music—created an intimate atmosphere.
Perry turned to Smriti, her heart racing. “So, what do you want to do now?” she asked, a playful glint in her eye.
Smriti laughed softly, her fingers tracing the outline of the ring on her finger. “I can’t believe this is happening. I feel like I’m in a dream.”
“Then let’s make it a reality,” Perry said, stepping closer. “Let’s plan the best wedding ever. Just the two of us and our favorite people.”
Smriti’s eyes widened with excitement. “I love that idea! But let’s not rush it. We have time to enjoy this moment.”
Perry nodded, understanding the need to savor their engagement. “You’re right. Let’s just take it slow and enjoy each step together.”
They settled onto the couch, a comfortable silence wrapping around them. Smriti leaned her head on Perry’s shoulder, feeling safe and content. “What were you thinking when you planned all this?” she asked, her voice soft.
“I just wanted to remind you how much you mean to me. You’ve gone through so much, and I wanted to celebrate you—your strength, your spirit, everything that makes you who you are,” Perry replied, her heart full.
Smriti lifted her head, her eyes shining. “You make me feel so loved, Pez. I never knew someone could care for me like this. You’ve changed my life.”
“Good change, I hope?” Perry teased lightly.
“Absolutely,” Smriti said, her expression earnest. “You’ve given me hope, love, and a future I never thought possible.”
Perry took Smriti’s hands in hers, their fingers intertwining. “I want to build that future with you, Smriti. Together, whatever comes our way.”
With a gentle squeeze, Smriti leaned in, capturing Perry’s lips in a tender kiss. It was soft at first, but the intensity quickly grew as they lost themselves in the moment, the warmth of their love surrounding them.
