The stadium was a cauldron of anticipation as Smriti Mandhana held her pose, eyes locked on the ball sailing through the air. The crowd held its breath, the trajectory of the ball seeming to stretch time itself. Smriti’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched the fielder below, a solitary figure against the vast expanse of the outfield. With the final delivery approaching its zenith, the tension was electric, every spectator's gaze fixed on the ball's uncertain path.

“Here it comes,” the commentator’s voice crackled over the loudspeakers. “Smriti Mandhana, the captain of RCB, has played an innings of sheer brilliance. Will she cap it off with a grand finish?”

The fielder, eyes tracking the ball, moved into position. The ball hung in the air, seemingly taunting the crowd with its slow descent. With every second that passed, the hopes of the RCB supporters grew higher. The fielders’ desperate jumps and outstretched hands were in vain as the ball cleared the boundary with a graceful arc.

“It's gone! It’s over the boundary! RCB have won the match!” the commentator’s voice roared with excitement. “Smriti Mandhana has led her team to victory with a stunning unbeaten 105. What an innings, what a moment!”

The stadium erupted into a cacophony of cheers and applause. The RCB team, who had been anxiously watching from the sidelines, surged onto the field, their faces alight with joy. Smriti’s teammates embraced her, lifting her off her feet as they celebrated their victory. The triumph was a collective effort, but Smriti’s lone warrior knock had been the highlight of the day.

Amidst the joyous chaos, Perry pushed her way through the crowd, her eyes searching for Smriti. When she finally found her, she wrapped her arms around her, lifting her off the ground. “You did it, love! I knew you could!” Perry’s voice was filled with pride and relief.

Smriti held Perry tightly, not wanting to let go. Her voice was choked with emotion as she whispered, “None of this would have been possible without you, Pez. Thank you so much.”

Perry's heart swelled with affection as she held Smriti close. The celebration continued around them, but in their embrace, time seemed to stand still. Smriti, still holding Perry, pulled back slightly to gaze into her eyes. Those light blue eyes, full of understanding and love, met Smriti’s tearful gaze.

The room was filled with the sounds of celebration, but as they finally retired to their room, the focus shifted to a more intimate setting

The room was filled with the sounds of celebration, but as they finally retired to their room, the focus shifted to a more intimate setting. Smriti pulled Perry into a deep embrace as they entered, the noise of the festivities fading behind them. In the quiet, Smriti cupped Perry’s face, her fingers gently tracing the contours of her cheeks. “I love you, Pez,” she murmured, her voice trembling with emotion.

Perry’s lips curved into a soft, affectionate smile. Before she could respond, Smriti closed the distance between them, their lips meeting in a kiss that started tenderly but quickly grew passionate. Their lips moved together in a dance of longing and fulfillment, the heat of their kiss reflecting the intensity of their emotions. The world outside seemed to disappear as they became lost in each other, the kiss deepening and becoming more urgent.

Just as the intensity reached its peak, a knock at the door interrupted them. Perry reluctantly pulled away, her breath ragged. She answered the door to find Sophie standing there, looking slightly uncomfortable.

“Oh, did I disturb you guys?” Sophie asked, her tone slightly apologetic.

“No, no, come in,” Smriti said quickly, her voice a mix of eagerness and frustration. “What’s up?”

Sophie shook her head, a small smile on her lips. “No, no, I won’t come in. I just need to drop off this jacket. My suitcase is already full. And don’t forget, we have a flight at 9 a.m. tomorrow.”

“Yes, yes, I remember,” Perry replied, taking the jacket from Sophie and giving her a distracted nod.

As Sophie left, Perry closed the door, turning to find Smriti standing there with a look of disappointment. Smriti’s expression was a mix of sadness and frustration. “So, you’ll be going tomorrow?” she asked softly.

Perry’s heart ached as she saw the pain in Smriti’s eyes. She moved closer and took Smriti’s hand in her own, her voice filled with regret. “I have to go, love. My parents haven’t seen me in six months, and they want me to stay with them for a while. I was about to tell you, but—”

Smriti’s tears welled up as she interrupted, her voice barely above a whisper. “But you didn’t tell me. What about us, Pez? What about the love we’ve shared and confessed? I don’t understand.”

Perry felt a lump in her throat, her own eyes filling with tears. She stepped forward, her heart aching at the sight of Smriti’s anguish. “I didn’t want to hurt you, Smriti. I was planning to talk to you about it. I love you more than anything, but I have commitments I need to fulfill.”

Smriti’s tears flowed freely as she clung to Perry. “I thought we had something real, something lasting,” she said, her voice breaking. “I thought we’d face everything together.”

Perry gently wiped Smriti’s tears away, her own voice trembling. “We do have something real. This doesn’t change how I feel about you. I’ll always love you, Ms. Mandhana.”

In the silent room, the weight of their words hung heavily. The future seemed uncertain, but in that moment, the only thing that mattered was the love they shared, even if the path ahead was unclear.
