_____________

Janav had comfortably fallen asleep in Anahita's arms. Anahita's eyes were also closed, indicating that she, too, had fallen asleep. However, Chirag's eyes were wide open, with no trace of sleep. And how could he sleep? What Anahita had just told him a little while ago made him feel a deep sense of guilt. Why did he keep giving Veeransh so many chances? Why did he bring him into his company? Why did he keep taking the medicines Veeransh provided for so long? And why did he trust that doctor?

He also felt guilty for avoiding Anahita when she was trying to warn him about Veeransh. He didn't even give her a chance to speak. And why? Just because he saw Anahita getting out of a car with Mahil? Just because Mahil dropped her home? But isn't that his own fault? It was late at night-shouldn't he have gone to the hospital himself to pick up his wife? He had so easily put all the blame on Anahita and started ignoring her.

Chirag glanced at the sleeping Anahita. She was comfortably asleep, cuddling Janav. Her hair was falling over her face, hiding it from view. Chirag reached out and gently moved the hair away from her face, whispering to himself, "I'm sorry, Petal! I made a mistake. I started punishing you for a mistake you never made. Please... forgive me."

_____________

The next morning, soft sunlight filtered through the window into the room. Chirag, Janav, and Anahita were still sleeping, cuddled up together. They had no idea that morning had already arrived. The peaceful silence was suddenly interrupted by a knock on their bedroom door. The knocking sound woke Chirag up first. He saw Janav's head resting on Chirag's arm, with both of Janav's legs stretched out on Anahita's stomach. Anahita's head was also bent towards Janav. Seeing them sleep so peacefully together made him smile. He didn't want to disturb their sweet sleep, but the knocking at the door continued. It would take him about half an hour to get out of bed and reach the door, so he gently woke Anahita, saying, "Anaa! Someone's at the door. Anaa, wake up. Please go and open the door. Anaa!!!"

Anahita, still half asleep, responded, "Hmm? What?"

Chirag said, "Someone's at the door."

Getting out of bed, Anahita mumbled, "Hmm."

She walked towards the door and opened it to find Janav's nanny standing there. The nanny said, "Ma'am, Janav Baba isn't in his room. He's not in Mr. Sharvil's room or Dadi's room either."

Anahita rubbed her eyes and replied, "Yeah, he fell asleep in our room last night."

The nanny sighed in relief and said, "Oh, thank God he's here. Ma'am, I'll take Janav Baba to his room now. It's time for him to wake up, so I'll also get him ready."

Anahita glanced back at Janav, who was still peacefully asleep. She said, "No need. I'll get Janav ready myself today. You can go now."

The nanny said, "Okay, ma'am, as you wish."

The nanny then left, and Chirag, who had heard everything, remained silent. When Anahita returned, she noticed that Chirag was already awake. She asked, "Would you like to freshen up first, or should I use the bathroom?"

Chirag gently caressed Janav's forehead and said, "You go ahead."

"Okay," Anahita said as she grabbed a towel from the cupboard and headed towards the bathroom.
