Chapter Sixteen: New Alliances

In the days following the tense confrontation, things began to settle into a new normal. Steve, after listening to Wade and considering the evidence, decided to remove Wade from the Avengers' threat board. He explained to the team that Wade had proven himself to be a more complex individual than they initially thought. Steve admitted that Wade had shown genuine care for Aria and had been an ally rather than an enemy.

As a gesture of goodwill and to further build trust, Wade began making occasional visits to the compound. He didn’t just pop in for social calls; he also contributed to the team’s efforts by helping them catch some of the more elusive villains. His unpredictable and unconventional methods often proved surprisingly effective, earning him a grudging respect from the other Avengers.

One afternoon, Wade arrived at the compound, wearing his iconic red and black suit. He had been invited to assist with a particularly tricky mission involving a notorious arms dealer. Aria met him in the common area, her face lighting up at the sight of him.

“Hey, Wade,” Aria greeted, a hint of excitement in her voice. “Ready for another adventure?”

Wade grinned beneath his mask. “Always. You know, fighting bad guys is almost as fun as hanging out with you.”

Aria blushed slightly, though she tried to play it cool. “Well, let’s hope this mission goes as well as the last one.”

Wade and Aria worked side by side, their camaraderie evident in their easy banter and seamless teamwork. Wade’s unpredictability complemented Aria’s strategic skills, making them an effective pair. As they faced down the arms dealer and his goons, their mutual respect and chemistry grew.

Back at the compound, things were also changing on the home front. Steve and Natasha had noticed the improvements in Aria’s behavior and her increased honesty. She now told them where she was going and who she was meeting, which helped rebuild their trust.

One evening, after a particularly successful mission, Aria and Wade found themselves alone in one of the compound’s quieter areas. The atmosphere was relaxed, and they took a moment to enjoy each other’s company.

“I have to admit, you’ve been pretty amazing lately,” Aria said, smiling at Wade. “Helping us out, being honest… It’s been a big shift.”

Wade chuckled, his eyes twinkling behind his mask. “Well, you know, I like to keep things interesting. And helping out has its perks. For one, it means I get to spend more time with you.”

Aria’s heart skipped a beat. She had been feeling a growing connection with Wade, and it was becoming harder to ignore her feelings. “I’m glad you’re here. It’s been nice having you around.”

Wade’s expression softened, and he took a step closer. “You know, Aria, I’ve been thinking about us. We make a pretty good team, don’t we?”

Aria’s cheeks flushed, but she met his gaze steadily. “Yeah, we do. I’ve been feeling something more… something I didn’t expect.”

Wade’s voice dropped to a tender tone. “Me too. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I care about you. More than just as a friend.”

Before Aria could respond, Wade leaned in and kissed her gently. It was a sweet and heartfelt moment, full of the affection and connection that had been building between them. When they pulled back, both of them were smiling, their feelings for each other clear.

As their relationship deepened, Wade continued to be a part of the Avengers’ team in an unofficial capacity. He was no longer just an outsider but a valued ally and friend. Aria and Wade’s romance grew, and their shared experiences and support for each other strengthened their bond.

Life at the compound adjusted to this new dynamic. Aria’s increased honesty and Wade’s integration into the team brought a sense of balance and harmony. While there were still challenges to face, the support of friends and the growth of new relationships provided a hopeful outlook for the future.
