Chapter 1 - Another Blind date

It was a cool late Friday afternoon and Nunew was staring outside the glass window of a café shop he is in. His hands touching his hot coffee mug, as if trying to warm himself.

A young lady who seems to be in the same age as Nunew is in front of him and has been talking for a few minutes now sharing something about herself and not minding Nunew glancing elsewhere.

Although hesitant to get into another blind date, Nunew practically had no choice but to meet this young lady today. He even had to take a leave from work just to accommodate this meeting.

His mother has been setting him up to blind dates for a while now, one after another. And he doesn't want to hear a long week of loud nagging from her if he says no, which in turn will upset his father who will then plead him to just give in to his mother's request.

So yes, that brought Nunew to this café today.

Honestly, the young lady looks nice and polite. She is dressed well and looks charismatic.

But Nunew is just not interested.

He is never attracted to women but to men only and although his parents are aware of his gender preference, they still wanted Nunew to have an "option".

Also, they hope he can have his own family one day so that he will never be alone if something bad happened to his parents.

And Nunew came to terms with this, that's why he played along all this time although he knew nothing will ever happen out of these blind dates.

When Nunew realizes that the young lady has been talking for a while now, he doesn't want to drag the meeting for too long, hence he thought of an excuse to leave the café and go home so he took his phone and pretended to read a message from one of his friends.

"Sorry, my friend needs me. I need to go now" he says.

He picked his bag and about to walk the door when he heard her say "Oh, sure. Be safe" and then Nunew rushed to the door as if running after time.

He continuously walked without turning his back and hurried to the nearest taxi bay.

Once arrived his condominium unit, he lied down to his comfortable sofa and breathed heavily.

"Finally, some alone and quiet time" he sighed.

Then he took his phone and typed "Mom, just got home. Sorry but there's just no spark. Please don't ask me to meet her again. I love you".

Nunew signed again, he knew his mother will be sad when she sees this similar message from him and although he agreed to meet these ladies, Nunew promised to be honest about his feelings after every meeting.

After clicking send, he decided to take a quick shower to freshen up and once changed with new clothes, he heard his phone vibrating.

He panicky thought it was his mother but immediately changes his mood as he sees the name calling, it was his best friend Nat.

"Hi Nunew! How's your date?" Nat teasing him.

"Oh Nat, you knew it's not even close to a date" he responded.

"Hahaha I am just joking! Though I thought that was the one you know" Nat says while laughing.

"Not funny Nat. Please stop teasing me. You know I don't feel good meeting any of them"

Nunew sighed.

"Alright, I know, that's why we need to go out tonight! Tutor and Yim will be going with us too!" Nat says with enthusiasm and excitement.

"Nah, I don't feel like going out sorry. I am too exhausted, both physically and emotionally. I just want to lie down on my bed, watch some movies or read a book" says Nunew.

"Come on Nunew! It's been a while since we went out! And it's hard to get Tutor and Yim to join us due to their busy work schedules. Also, and most importantly, I don't want to be their third wheel and witness their clinginess all night all alone! Please! Please join us!" Nat begs.

Nat was correct. Ever since they started working and building their respective careers, it was hard to get the four of them together.

Either one or two among them are not free or not in the mood to go out.

And suddenly he missed them. He missed talking to them, laughing with them or just seeing them.

So, he ended saying yes to Nat.

"Yeeeesssss! We will pick you up at exactly 9pm, please dress well! We are going to Pentagon! Byeeee, see you later Nunew!" Nat happily replied then hang up.

Nunew although excited to see his friends again, now worries if he made the right decision.

"Are we really going to Pentagon?" He asked himself. He heard about Pentagon before, but they never went there before.

Pentagon is one of the most high-end bars in the metro with customers coming from very rich family and wealthy businessman.

And normally, Nunew and his friends will only go to Gemini bar which is like a mid-class bar with customers mostly from the working class trying to forget a hard day of work.

But Pentagon? Nunew now wonders what's been on his friend's minds going to this place.

Anyway, he needs to dress well as for sure his friends will be teasing him the whole night if he dresses lesser than any of them and he is not the type who losses on this kind of game.

So, he went to his closet and scanned the section where his party clothes are neatly hanged and slowly run his fingers through each of them until he decided which to wear – a shiny and tight black pants which compliments his curves plus a silver top with deep and low neckline.

He matches his clothes with three layered necklaces. The first necklace is a choker that fits his neck, the second one that is a little longer than the first necklace and the third necklace with a long chain touching the neckline of his blouse.

For his shoes, he chosen his black boots which perfectly suits his outfit. He also put on some make up for some glitter and shine.

Then he fixed his hair that perfectly matches his overall look.

After spraying his favorite perfume, he looked at himself in the mirror and was satisfied with what he is seeing.

He thought he missed feeling this good about himself.

He was turning from side to side to check again his look when he heard his phone ringing, it was Nat saying that they are in the lobby waiting for him.

He glanced at himself once more then prepared to leave.
