Chapter 9 - Haunted by the past

The following weeks of being boyfriends are nothing but blissfulness and walking on air both for Zee and Nunew.

They continued to see each other every day after their work, the only difference now is the sleep overs at each other's place.

But it was Nunew who is mostly in Zee's place as Zee's apartment is just minutes away from their work.

Because of this, Nunew slowly brought his things to Zee's place especially things he used for his nightly beauty routine which he also used to Zee's face each night before they go to sleep.

They also discover a lot of things during this time, Zee is an early riser and goes to a quick run every morning while Nunew likes to sleep more on his bed and will just wake up about an hour before his work to prepare himself.

Zee likes to eat breakfast too so after his quick run and shower, he would prepare himself and Nunew something to eat before he wakes up Nunew so they can eat breakfast together.

Nunew also noticed how hardworking Zee is, even on weekends he would spend time checking his emails or having quick meetings with partners especially located abroad.

He felt that Zee deserves all the success that he has now because of his work ethics, dedication and passion.

And he is loving the guy even more each day. Nunew admitted to himself.

Of course it was not all bed of roses, they would have occasional small "discussions" as what they call them on petty things like Zee being overly possessive on him whenever a guy will look at Nunew or when he insists on picking Nunew up although he needs to get back to his office to finish his work.

But whatever it is, they were able to compromise and talk things out by listening to each other more.

And Zee slowly acquires Nunew's soft demeanor. He learns to think first before opening his mouth. To be more understanding of the situation before making judgments.

Zee though won't back down his possessiveness, but he quickly calms down once Nunew intertwines his hands with his. One of their compromises.

One night though, Nunew noticed something different from Zee. He would always be on his phone and leave the room where Nunew is.

Then when Zee comes back, he looked like he just had a fight with someone but would quickly change his mood when he sees a wondering face of Nunew.

It didn't bother Nunew before but when he remembers that this has been going on for a few days, he decided to ask Zee.

"Hia, is there anything wrong at work?" Nunew asked after Zee just came back from another phone call that night.

"Just some trouble at work. Don't worry, everything will be alright." Zee answered and touched Nunew's face as an assurance.

"You know that you can share to me your worries, right? I am a good listener anyway." Nunew bragged.

Zee pulled him close and hugged him tenderly.

"Thank you, baby. And you know that I love you so much, right?" Zee suddenly asked.

Suddenly, Nunew felt some chills. His mind wondering why unexpectedly Zee would say that. He knows that Zee loves him and Nunew loves him too.

But why would Zee tell him that when his problems are about his work? Or is there something that is bothering him aside from work? Nunew quietly asked himself.

"Of course, hia, and I love you too so much!" Nunew just answered as he doesn't want to make Zee worry more.

The next morning, Nunew woke up without Zee on his side. He thought he went for his morning run when he noticed a yellow note on his small lamp table.

"Good morning, Sweetheart. I went to the office already due to an urgent morning meeting with my partners. Your breakfast is ready at the dining table. See you later in the evening. Love, Hia." Written on the note.

Nunew smiled. All his worries from last night have disappeared after reading that note.

He is indeed lucky to be loved by this man.

Nunew arrived in the café after an hour, and he decided to surprise Zee by bringing him his favorite coffee and some lunch.

He did his usual morning work like checking his emails, some reports submitted by other branches and huddles with Nat and their team, then he proceeded to prepare his surprise for Zee.

He even brought some extra sandwiches for Poppy.

He was on the floor of Zee's office when he noticed that Poppy is not on his usual work area.

Nunew thought he was just in the bathroom or somewhere, so he leaves the box for Poppy on his table then he walked near to Zee's office and opened the door.

He didn't even bother to knock but then....

Nunew was shocked when he saw a girl sitting on Zee's table with body facing Zee who is sitting on his chair.

The girl has a leaned body and long hair wearing tight fitted clothes.

And from Nunew's view, he is certain that the girl's face is tilting closely to Zee somewhat kissing him.

Nunew was so stunned, he came back to his senses when he heard something falling on the floor, which are the coffee and the food he brought to Zee.

Then he turns his back and walks as quickly as possible to the elevator. He feels his whole body feeling so numb that he can't even sense his tears flowing from his eyes.

He was glad no one can see him now and even at the elevator he was all alone as if the heavens don't want to add anymore embarrassment from what he is feeling right now.

He decided to use the back exit door of the building instead of the usual building entrance/exit side as he doesn't want to go back to the café now.

He contemplated where to go. He is sure that he doesn't want to go home. He even doesn't want to go to his parents' home for them to see him in a state like this.

So, he waved his hands to an upcoming taxi then pushes himself inside. He told the driver to bring him to Samut Sakhon, a place where he spent almost all his vacation days as a child. A place that will always bring happy and good memories to him.

A place where he can feel safe and have some time alone.

Zee's POV

Back at Zee's office, Zee was too shaken when he saw Nunew running away from his office. The girl who was seating at his desk tried to hold him from following Nunew.

"Where do you think you're going? We are not done here!" She demanded.

"We are done a long time ago Janis. As I told you for many times already, I only want Nunew in my life. No one else. Not even you. So back off!" Zee said to Janis a loud voice and eyes so furious.

Obviously, he is very mad now at Janis and she felt scared of Zee now.

Zee removed Janis hands from his arms with full force and threw it away from him. He then rushes outside trying to get hold of Nunew.

When he doesn't see him in front of any of the elevators, he pressed the down sign and hurriedly went inside the next open elevator.

Once he reached the ground floor, he walks quickly to the café nearby hoping to see and talked to Nunew.

He asked one of the staff for Nunew.

"Where is Nunew?" Zee said.

It was Nat who answered him who just came in and is now standing behind Zee.

"He went to your office to bring you your coffee and lunch. Didn't he?" Nat asked in a worried face.
