Leia Welsh

This situation is beyond awkward.

Here we all are, at the movie theaters of all places. Like, huh? Oh, and everyone's here, by everyone I mean - Owen, Warren, Ant, Athena, Ari, and of course, Adam.

How did we all end up here?

Well, I caved and let Athena and Warren tag along with me and Adam because Warren wouldn't let it go. And to make things less awkward, I asked Ari to come along to try and diffuse the tension, but she just had to bring Owen into the mix.

And then Owen dragged Ant along because apparently, he was depressed or whatever, even though that was clearly a lie!

And to add insult to injury?

We're stuck watching some sappy romance movie because Ari and Athena insisted on it. And as if that wasn't bad enough, I'm sandwiched between Adam on my right and Warren on my left.

Can this night get any worse?

"Give me some, stop hogging the popcorn," Athena says

with a glare, reaching over all of us and grabbing the popcorn from Adam.

"I bought this, get your own," Adam retorts, grabbing the popcorn back with an annoyed tone.

"Just share it," I say exasperatedly, grabbing the popcorn and setting it in my lap as they both shrug their shoulders. My long hair falls in my face as I huff in annoyance.

"SHH!" Some people behind us say as all of us get ticked off. Their disapproving looks only adding to my irritation.

The movie hasn't even started yet. What's the point of telling us to be quiet?

"Sorry to say, but our deal is off, I found the girl Leia!" Adam's breath tickles my ear as he delivers the news, his eyes fixed on Athena, who appears completely engrossed in the movie ad.

I can't help but notice how her blue hair cascades down her shoulders, contrasting with her deep blue eyes.

She's the one who did this to Adam? Well, it doesn't matter, her boyfriend - Warren - will have to deal with this lunatic.

Wait, the deal is off? So, what am I even doing here then? Our agreement was simple: I help him find the girl, and he helps me steer clear of Warren. And now, he's pulling this two-timing act on me.

"Mind if I join in on the whispering?" Warren decides to chime in, whispering in that annoyingly smooth voice of his.

I roll my eyes at him, not in the mood for his antics. "Kohl, we're not best buds. Why don't you go back to watching the movie and leave me be?"

I can feel the tension rising as Adam and Warren exchange glances, both seemingly amused by the situation. But inside, I'm seething. How dare they pull this stunt on me? They are like two peas in a pod. Both complete jackasses!

"Mind if we switch spots?" I whisper to Ari, who's cozied up between Adam and Owen. She looks all comfy and content, which makes me feel a twinge of guilt. "Never mind," I mutter under my breath, realizing she's in her happy place.

As the lights dim and the movie begins, Warren keeps reaching into the popcorn box on my lap. I swear, he doesn't even seem to like the salty stuff, but he just can't resist grabbing another handful.

"Pass the popcorn," Athena whisper-shouts, elbowing Ant who's passed out beside her.

Ant doesn't budge, leaving me to reluctantly hand over the popcorn to Warren. He then slyly passes it on to Athena, over Ant's sleeping body. And so it goes, for what feels like an eternity during those first ten minutes of the movie.
