labyrinth, caitlin clark narrative
"Gigi!" The blonde got out of bed and opened the door quickly, thinking something bad had just happened to one of her friends.
"What happened?" she asked with a worried expression and saw Grayson standing at the principal's door, watching as the brunette's car wouldn't start.
The brunette groaned loudly, looking at the girls. For some reason, her car had decided not to turn on today. She was angry and nervous; she had to be at school at four-thirty PM for a meeting, and the clock read four PM.
"Here, go now!" Gigi took her car keys and handed them to the brunette. She wasn't going to use her car; her day was over. Sophie grabbed her things and got into Lavelle's car.
Both girls watched their friend drive away and then started walking toward the house. Gigi closed the door and looked at Grayson. "Is Eddie coming? He could check on Sophie's car when he gets here," the blonde asked.
Grayson looked at her phone; her boyfriend was in class and then had practice, so he wasn't coming today.
"No, he's in class right now and then he has practice," the other blonde replied.
They couldn't leave the car there. They had to do something. But who could lend them a hand? "I don't know who knows about cars," Gigi said, pressing her lips together.
"Uh! What about Caitlin?" Grayson suggested. "I remember her saying she was good at fixing things. I don't know if that included cars, but she can check the car." Clark was the last person she had considered.
Gigi nervously took out her phone and searched for Caitlin's contact. "Um, yeah, we can try," she said.
Grayson nodded and looked at her friend's phone. She was texting Caitlin. For some reason, she wasn't calling. It felt weird to Gray. "Call her, don't text her." Lavelle nodded and touched the screen to call the tall brunette.
"Hi Gigs!" the voice of the young woman greeted from the other line. That voice made Gigi get chills; the last time they heard each other's voices was about two weeks ago. They only text occasionally, but they haven't spoken in person. "Hi Cait! Are you busy?" she asked. Hopefully, she would say yes, but she didn't. One thing about Clark is that no matter how busy she is, she's always free for Gigi. "Okay, um, Sophie's car won't start. Can you take a look at it?"
Caitlin smiled on the other line; she was sitting on her friend Gabbie's couch. "Yeah, of course. I'm on my way," she said. The two girls hung up the phone.
Kate and Gabbie looked at Caitlin when she got up from the couch. "Where are you going?" Gabbie asked.
Caitlin took her car keys. It wasn't the call she was expecting, but it was something. At least she was going to have the opportunity to see Gigi one more time. "I'm going to see Gigi at her house; her roommate's car won't start," she said, looking at the girls.
The two basketball players exchanged glances; they didn't believe her. They knew that Caitlin and Gigi had been together since the semester started.
Caitlin rolled her eyes and walked out of her friend's apartment to the parking lot where her car was. She wanted to be at Gigi's house as soon as possible. She started driving away; it wasn't too far from where she was, so it only took her about five minutes to get there.
When she arrived, she saw Sophie's car parked in the driveway. Gigi's car wasn't there, but Grayson's Toyota was parked too.
She locked her car, and when the two girls heard the sound of the car, they opened the door.
"Hi," Clark said when she saw the blonde girl open the door. The blonde stepped out of the house and walked towards her.
"Hi," the blonde said with a smile on her face while she side-hugged Caitlin. Grayson waved at Caitlin from the doorway. Caitlin walked to the red car belonging to Sophie, opened the door, and tried to turn it on one more time. But it didn't start. So she stepped out of the car and opened the hood, allowing Clark to see what was wrong with it.
Grayson walked out of the house and opened the door of her car. "Bye Caitlin, if you need something, go to the garage; Eddie has some tools over there. I'm running late for my nail appointment," she said. Caitlin thanked her, and she drove away.
The blonde entered the house and went to the fridge. She was pretty sure they had some Dr Pepper, which Clark liked, and she was right; she saw the can and took it to give the soda to the brunette.
She saw the basketball player with a high ponytail, wearing black Nike sweatpants and a black Iowa hoodie. She looked so attractive; for some reason, she appeared concentrated on what she was doing. The brunette once again tried to turn on the car, and it finally started. Clark looked at the blonde, who was standing there, and Gigi smiled at her.
"Done," she smiled, turning off the car and closing the hood. Gigi moved closer to the brunette and gave her the soda. Clark smiled.
"Thank you so much; I think you're the only person who could fix this," Gigi smiled. When Clark heard that, her heart started beating faster. Her cheeks turned red; it wasn't because of the cloudy day and air, it was for Gigi.
Both girls didn't want to be separated. Although Lavelle was maintaining distance with Caitlin, Clark was trying hard to earn her trust so they could be together. "Are you hungry? I could invite you wherever you want," Clark said.
Gigi knew Caitlin was trying her best, and she couldn't resist saying no to her. "I'm not ready; I have to do my makeup," she said, laughing.
Clark laughed too. "I'll wait; come on," she said, passing her arm through the blonde's shoulders as they entered the house. They walked to the room, and Caitlin waited for Gigi, lying on her bed, scrolling through TikTok. Meanwhile, Gigi was doing her makeup and trying to choose her outfit. After a couple of minutes, she was ready, wearing white jeans and a nude strapless top. She was choosing her bag when Caitlin laughed. "You really dressed up when I look like this," she pointed at her outfit.
"We can go to yours, so you can change," Gigi said, putting on her shoulder bag.
Caitlin got up from the bed and went to hug Gigi from behind while she was taking pictures in the mirror. "No, it's okay; I like showing you off," she smiled, placing a kiss on the blonde's head.
Lavelle smiled and turned to face the girl. They both stared at each other, with smiles ear to ear. "I think we should go," Gigi said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, let's go" Caitlin said smiling at the blonde. They know they love each other with the same passion, but no matter how hard Caitlin's tries to stay close with her, Gigi pushes her away.
