As Linda's emotions began to settle, Alex's concern for her well-being grew. He gently squeezed her hand and said, "I think I should take a look at that tooth. It might help us figure out how to ease the pain."
Linda stiffened at the suggestion. "Why would you need to? It's just a chipped tooth, not a big deal."
Alex's calm demeanor remained, but a hint of a smile played at the corners of his lips. "I just want to make sure it's not something more serious. It'll be easier for me to help you if I know what's going on."
Linda hesitated, feeling a mix of embarrassment and anxiety. "I don't want to. It's really painful and I don't know if I can handle it."
After Alex's revelation, he gently urged Linda to let him examine her tooth. Despite his calm and reassuring tone, Linda hesitated, her anxiety still evident.
"Why do you need to look at it now?" Linda asked, trying to mask her fear.
Alex's smile grew a little more reassuring. "Well, I'd like to see if there's anything more we need to address before we get you to a dental clinic. I promise it won't be uncomfortable."
Linda's heart raced, and she took a step back, her eyes wide with worry. "I don't want to do this. Why are you insisting?"
Alex noticed her growing panic and decided it was time to reveal the truth. "Linda, I think you should know that I'm actually a dentist."
Her eyes widened in shock. "You're a dentist? You didn't tell me that before!"
Alex stepped closer, trying to calm her. "I didn't want to overwhelm you earlier, but it's important for me to help you properly now. Please, let me take a quick look. I promise I'll be gentle."
Despite Alex's soothing words, Linda's fear got the better of her, and she tried to retreat further. "I don't know if I can handle it. This is too much."
Seeing her distress, Alex quickly closed the distance between them and gently wrapped her in his arms. "Shh, it's okay," he murmured, holding her close. "I'm here for you. Just take a deep breath."
Linda, overwhelmed by emotion and fear, began to cry softly. She tried to pull away, but Alex's embrace was firm yet comforting. "I'm so scared," she admitted between sobs.
Alex held her tighter, his voice a soothing balm. "I understand. It's alright to be scared. We'll take it one step at a time. For now, let's just cuddle on the couch. We don't have to rush anything."
He guided her to the couch, his touch gentle and reassuring. Linda, though still scared, found some comfort in his presence. She settled into the couch, Alex remaining close, offering warmth and support.
As they sat together, Alex continued to comfort her, his soft words and steady presence helping to ease her anxiety. "You're safe here, Linda. We'll get through this together."
With his reassurance, Linda slowly calmed down, feeling a bit more secure despite her lingering fear, but not knowing what's awaiting her...
