One sunny Saturday afternoon, Linda and Alex decided to spend some quality time together at Alex's place by cooking a meal from scratch. It was a new recipe Linda had found online-a complex dish that required patience and teamwork, something they both found exciting. They loved spending time together in the kitchen, even if their skill levels were somewhat mismatched.

Alex, being the more experienced cook, took charge of the heavier tasks, like handling the meats and prepping the vegetables, while Linda, with her enthusiasm and creativity, focused on the smaller, more intricate details of the recipe.

The kitchen was filled with the sound of sizzling pans, the rhythmic chopping of vegetables, and the occasional playful banter between the two.

"Hey, are you sure you want to chop those tomatoes like that?" Alex teased, watching as Linda carefully sliced them into neat little cubes.

Linda glanced up at him, sticking her tongue out playfully. "Yes, Mr. Perfectionist. I can handle it!"

He chuckled, shaking his head as he turned back to the stove. "Alright, just don't cut yourself, okay? I don't want to have to play doctor today."

Linda grinned, focusing on her task with a bit more determination. "I'll be fine! Besides, I have you to take care of me if something happens, right?"

Alex glanced over his shoulder with a smirk. "Always."

As they continued cooking, the kitchen filled with the mouthwatering aroma of their dish. They worked in sync, passing ingredients back and forth, sneaking tastes, and laughing when things didn't go quite as planned. Everything was going smoothly until Linda decided to tackle the garlic.

"I'll chop the garlic!" Linda declared, grabbing the small cloves with a flourish.

"Careful with that knife," Alex warned gently, noticing how she was holding it.

Linda waved him off. "I've got it! You worry too much."

But just as she began to mince the garlic, the knife slipped, and she let out a small yelp of pain. Alex was by her side in an instant.

"Linda, are you okay?" he asked, his voice full of concern.

Linda quickly hid her hand behind her back, trying to downplay the situation. "It's nothing, just a little cut."

Alex wasn't convinced. He gently took her wrist, pulling her hand into view. The sight of the small but deep cut made his protective instincts kick in.

"Let me see," he insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Linda hesitated, biting her lip as she looked up at him with watery eyes. "It's just a little cut, Alex. I don't want to make a big deal out of it."

But Alex could see the pain in her eyes and the slight tremor in her hand. He led her over to the sink, rinsing the wound under cold water, all the while keeping his tone soft and reassuring.

"Hey, it's okay," he murmured. "Let's just get this cleaned up, alright? It might need a bandage."

Linda nodded, but as soon as the water touched her cut, she winced, tears welling up in her eyes. She wasn't usually this sensitive, but something about the cut and the way Alex was so gentle with her made her emotions bubble to the surface.

"It hurts," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Alex felt his heart ache at her distress. He quickly turned off the water, grabbed a clean towel, and gently pressed it against the cut to stop the bleeding. "I know, sweetheart. I'm going to take care of you."

He guided her over to the kitchen island, where he kept a first aid kit in one of the drawers. Linda sat on one of the stools, holding the towel to her hand while Alex rummaged through the kit.

"I'm really sorry," Linda mumbled, feeling embarrassed for making such a fuss over a small cut.

Alex stopped what he was doing and looked at her, his expression softening. "You don't have to apologize, Linda. I'm just glad you're okay."

Linda watched as Alex carefully cleaned the wound with antiseptic, his touch as gentle as ever. She flinched a little, but he was quick to soothe her, his voice steady and calming.

"It's going to sting a bit," he warned, "but you're doing great."

She nodded, trying to be brave, but the sting of the antiseptic made her eyes water again. Alex noticed and placed a comforting hand on her knee, rubbing it gently as he worked.

"Almost done," he said, offering her a small smile. "Just hang in there."

Linda took a deep breath, focusing on the warmth of Alex's hand on her knee and the reassuring tone of his voice. It helped distract her from the discomfort, and before she knew it, Alex was wrapping a bandage around her hand.

"There we go," he said, tying off the bandage with a small, neat knot. "Good as new."

Linda looked down at her bandaged hand and then up at Alex, her eyes full of gratitude. "Thank you, Alex. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Alex smiled, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. "You're my girl, Linda. I'm always going to take care of you."

Linda felt a surge of warmth at his words. Despite the pain and the scare, she felt incredibly lucky to have Alex by her side. He was always there for her, no matter what, and that made her feel safer than anything else in the world.

"Now," Alex said, stepping back and wiping his hands on a towel. "Let's get back to cooking, shall we?"

Linda laughed softly, shaking her head. "You still want to cook after all that?"

"Of course," Alex replied with a grin. "We're not letting a little cut stop us from making dinner. Besides," he added, winking at her, "I'm hungry."

Linda couldn't help but smile at his light-heartedness. "Okay, let's finish this."

With Linda's hand now safely bandaged, they returned to the kitchen. Alex took over the chopping duties while Linda busied herself with stirring the sauce and preparing the rest of the ingredients. They continued cooking, the atmosphere light and filled with easy conversation.

Eventually, they finished their meal and sat down to eat, both feeling accomplished and satisfied. The food tasted even better knowing they had made it together, overcoming a small mishap along the way.

As they ate, Linda couldn't help but glance down at her bandaged hand, a soft smile playing on her lips. "You know," she said, looking up at Alex, "I think this might be one of my favorite meals we've made together."

Alex raised an eyebrow, smiling back at her. "Because of the food, or because I got to play doctor?"

Linda laughed, her eyes sparkling. "A little bit of both, I guess."

Alex chuckled, reaching across the table to take her hand in his. "Well, I'm glad I could be here for you. But next time, maybe let me handle the knife, okay?"

Linda smiled, squeezing his hand. "Deal."

They finished their meal, their bond even stronger than before. Cooking together had become one of their favorite things to do, and despite the small accident, it only made them appreciate each other even more.
