I was walking around the forest with nowhere particular in mind. For now, I was just enjoying the change of environment, the air was fresh and cool, the sun was warm on my skin, and the scenery was beautiful. I might have been but of a shut-in during my past life, but after being stuck in that dark horrible cave even I can appreciate the sun.Me: (This forest beats the stuffy old cave.) I thought to myself as I took a breath of fresh air.
While doing this I was also familiarizing myself with all the different spiritual energies of different creatures.
Raphael had explained earlier that souls are incredibly complex. So to oversimplify what I was told, souls are the very root of all beings and the source of power for every living creature.
The Ego is the center of a soul and is the manifestation of us as individuals. Our personality, our intentions, desires, everything that makes us who we are is from the Ego. Then there is the Core which contains the Ego which also holds all of the information of our lives such as our memories or skills, and not the power skills but our talents. The outermost layer that protects them is the Energy Crystal, which is created from a dense collection of spiritrons. It acts as the source of spiritual power that usually fuels some skills, it's also what I detect from a field scan with Soul Detection. But if I sacrifice doing a wide field and focus on a single soul then I can read a soul straight down to the Ego.
Anyway, it is amazing all the different energies released from different souls, and races feel similar yet are different from each other. And the sheer power difference between races is insane, after all, some races are practically invisible when near others with stronger spiritual energy.
Which is probably why I didn't notice the Goblins until they got a little closer. It also showed the difference between souls with intelligence and non-intelligence. After all despite being severely weaker than many mindless monsters in the forest, their souls are a whole lot more complex.
I looked up and saw some beautiful green birds with feathers that were different colors fly away as if sensing something bad.
Me: "I have a year to myself... I'll have to make the most of it so I can brag to Veldora." I say smirking as I wait for the Goblins to get closer.
Suddenly footsteps were heard as if a small army was marching. I looked forward and noticed tiny Goblins that were about a foot shorter than me.
Me: (Judging by their height they appear to be a bit taller than four feet or so. Which would roughly put me between 5'5 to 5'7. Tch! I was hoping to be taller).
I took notice of their equipment, firstly none had any armor hell they weren't even practically dressed. Most didn't have shirts as they had just animal hides wrapped around their waist. Their armor was rusted, chipped, and poorly made. Honestly, it's impressive that the weapons are still together with how worn down they looked. The one who seemed to be in charge was in the front. He wore a red bandana on his head, with a severely dented shield and a chipped sword that was almost as tall as him. They were all shaking terrified some clutching onto their weapons as if seeking comfort from the item.
Red Bandana: "Strong one, please forgive me, but do you have some sort of business out here in the forest?"
Me: "Strong one?" I asked raising an eyebrow, "I am gonna assume that you are speaking to me, but to answer your question, not really I'm just walking around the forest. Why am I passing on your territory?"
Red Bandana: "Yo-you must be joking! We Goblins do not possess nearly enough power to have territory, we can barely hold onto our village as it is. Which is why strong one, if you could allow me to be so bold, I must ask you if a favor."
