Myla's POV

"Hmmm... How's Mumbai?", he asked but I felt a slight shiver in his voice.

"It is... umm... cool? Idk", I laughed. I heard no reply from him and decided to start the conversation myself. "So, Mr. Businessman, what's new? When will you be announcing your new business to the whole wide world?", I asked. He told me in short how he wanted to work with his brother for a while before going out on his own. I wished him good luck and then pure silence wrapped around us.

"Aniket Bhaiyya is getting married in three days", I lifted my face up in surprise and nodded even though I knew he couldn't see me. "I hope he finally is happy", he chuckled. "I hoped so too. But a lot has happened here when I was gone", I heard the whole story of why he was getting married and was too stunned to speak.

"So, now it's going to be a forced marriage or love marriage?"

"Honestly, I have no idea", I laughed while he chuckled.

"Ok. What's wrong?", I asked. When he tried to cover it up, I did not give up until he finally gave in.

"This will upset you. I don't want to-"

"Ashwin, please. I don't think there is anything in this world that will upset me anymore", he sighed before he answered.

"Varun found out that we talk", he said. I did not know how to react so I kept quiet while he continued, "It was on the weekend dinner when I was texting you and he saw that. He created a scene and everyone now knows we talk. Him and his father are upset with me now".

"So, that's why my mother got that call", I said as I connected the dots. "What call?", he asked worry evident in his voice.

"My mother had gotten a call from her sister to convince her to send me back to them".

"No fucking way"

"Yeah, my mom said the same to her", he was quiet for a moment and then told me how he had talked to her after the fight. I sighed and replied, "Ashwin, this was why I did not want to come back here. This is my home, this is where you are, this is where I belong. But, it doesn't bring back good memories. For eight whole years, I made my life a challenge and lived every second trying to run away from my past and live like a new person with a new identity. But as soon as I step into this country, everything collapses. Everything changes and my past creeps up on me. This is exactly what I don't want for myself".

"I still don't know why you decided to give that interview. And the fact that they asked that question on live telecast..", he sounded disappointed, "But you handled it like a queen", I smiled and replied, "How did you get the time to watch my interview? Don't you have a wedding to prepare for?"

"My mother wanted to see you. She kept rewatching the interview until yesterday. I think she's watching it now too", I laughed. "She always loved me", he hummed. We were quiet again until he said, "I want you here, Apsara. I want you here at the wedding. I want these people to see who you are and who you have become. But I know that you will never come here. After the call....I just....", he sighed. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that", he muttered. Before I could respond, he cut the call and left me thinking about what just happened. I decided to give him some space and call him after we reached Japan.

The next day, we boarded the private plane to London. I was excited for our vacation that we were leaving for with Sienna once we reached London. The whole way home, I kept thinking about how my first visit to India was a partial success. I thought about how I actually liked being around the people of my culture again. I did not feel any longing even when I left India. But I was just worried about Ashwin. After a long flight, we finally reached London and me and Enzo split up from our parents and reached Sienna's place in no time.
